This morning two of scott’s friends, Leif and matt meet me at Scott’s house to start the process of transferring all the very cool science and engineering equipment he has to good causes. It’s been about three hours sifting through exotic high-voltage in electronics equipment… It was so fun and sobering… We were taking our good friends equipment gathered over a lifetime of experimenting and sorting them into buckets Things that we could find a home for it and things we couldn’t… In the end I only took a little which was great… And the other two guys took quite a bit. Spent a lot of time talking about Scott and how we might want to find ways of honor him… It was hard work but good work
As soon as were finished headed up to Fletcher to. see my friend Jon. It has been along time since we hung out together… And the first time I’ve ever been to his house. He took it really nice 2 mile walk through his words and then spray a good long time looking at his very cool tech heart. Really a great collection… I also met his girlfriend Katrina is awesome
I finish the day with a nice visit with scott in hospice… He’s heavily sedated now I cannot longer talk… And it was still nice just being with him
Lots of contracts today and Anna left this morning at 4:30 AM get her to the airport at 5 AM for her flight to Santa Fe. It was kind of cool that early… Are used to do that all the time Australia. It’s up strangely fun. After dropping her off at home for about 45 minutes more sleep sack he’s getting more and more quiet… Most of the time. Spent a couple of hours talking to John, Scott’s dad. Scott woke up a bit towards the end of My visit and we were able to talk A little… He’s only able to say a few words at this point It was nice to be able to hear from him
From there I headed back home… And soon after my friends Derrick his father Jom And his wife Jackie from Pennsylvania showed up. If it most of the day with them which was really nice. We basically hung out did a few science tricks and then headed to Stowe for a nice lunch. Derek is an amazing guy I worked with at IBM… He’s in another company now… And his dad I know from a hack -athon we all do together. It was really fun to have Jacky here too. We really had a good time… And I kind a needed it
We got home About 530… Which gave me time to do some yardwork which was fun and mindless.
It was nice to have kind of a sleepy Sunday like that… But my mind was still on Scott
Yesterday one of the hospice chaplains came in and talk to Scott and gave him a rock with a circle around it. These are formed when molten rock of another type is injected into a crack in a rock… And then that rock gets worn down. We find them all the time at the intersection of the Huntington in The Winooski. The chaplain give it to Scott as a reminder of how life is a circle.
Tonight ‘Diane and I went looking for those kind of rocks and found a bunch of them. They’re gonna always make me think of Scott.
I’m going to drop some of these off for him tomorrow
My workday ended around four so I headed up to visit Scott in hospice again. He wasn’t feeling very good… But he was lucid… We were able to talk for about two hours. It’s so nice to be able to sit with him there… Not much to say but it’s still nice to be there
