wednesday night (delayed) – science day

it’s 4am and can’t sleep so i’m catching up on missing blogs .

wednesday was an interesting mix of stuff. I had a fun meeting with my friends dave and sally at uvm about two projects we’re working on. sally is helping us build a tribute demonstration for my good friend scott who died last august. it’s going to be an interactive plasma sculpture. sally is a long time glass blower who makes that kind of stuff. it was fun visiting her lab.

on the way to talk to her I ran into my friend travis who’s the chemistry demo guy. he showed me this cool demo of melting a styrofoam head with acetone

i then made it up to see my friend dave who’s helping me with some demos for my work at Beta. he’s helping us build a replica of the worlds first electric motor that was designed by thomas davenport in brandon Vermont in the 1830s !!! i’m eager to help tell davenports story since it is very aligned with the inventive spirit of vermont . it also ties in so nicely to my work at beta !

I love working with dave on stuff like this !!!

later on that day o met up with my friends jon, bruce and brian at bruce’s studio . jon had brought his friend john fro. australia who had sone some amazing paintings based on the maori dreamtimes. we ended up playeg around with some of the new color magnetic viewing material I found

Tuesday night – Floored

Diane worked the entire day today painting the inside of the now empty lab/workshop.… She primed all the wood painted the ceilings, walls and desks and just got a coat of epoxy on the floor… It looks so amazing !

Next step is another coat on the floor and then we start installing the new shelving. I am so excited !

This is the most amazing Christmas gift ever ! Thank you Diane!

Monday night – succession

Tonight was our last parking advisory committee (PAC) Meeting for the year. It’s been a very productive and educational year of defining new parking places in our tiny town of Richmond Vermont.… It’s also been a lot of work since our fearless leader Kara retired Diane has been doing the bulk of the work in terms of meeting scheduling, minutes etc. Today she got To pass the torch to our newest member Kevin… He’s a great guy and he’s eager to push the PAC Into its next set of challenges.… We really appreciate all the help and support we’ve got from the community on this endeavor… It’s really giving me an appreciation for a small town democracy !

I wish the whole country work this way :-)

Sunday night – In the woods again

Hunting season is mostly over… By mostly I mean they’re still muzzleloaders for another week… But dressed in bright clothes including the Santa hat we were able to get back outside because the rain has let up.… We did the Honey in Hollow/catamount loop. One of our favorites. About 7 miles.

With the snow gone it looks like “stick season” again… Trying to wish the snow back. Won’t be long.
