I had a great Hunter today I’ve been the commencement speaker for the PhD graduates of Carnegie Mellon’s electrical and computer engineer in department. As I was about to begin speaking I realized it was the 30th anniversary of my own PhD there and that I have never really been to the official commencement. We have had to come back to Vermont… And Diane had arranged For a surprise party for me in the park… She put on my bathroom and made a mortar board And we had our own ceremony.
This was my first official ceremony… And it was great to see you were about 21 new PhD’s from a department where I am now on the advisory board. There is so many great projects and so much hope and optimism after such a tough year.
Diane, Kyle and I just took a quick walk to the gorge. We left about 9:30 it was wicked hot and humid out.. the air was heavy and full of the smell of flowers , subway road is still closed at the gorge washout so we had the road to ourselves , it was nice and mysterious walking up that way. We got a look at the new road work at the gorge .
They’re making progress .. it’ll be nice to have the road open after a year of being closed ..
First full day home from vacation and it took some getting used to. The word the time zones andI was back at work… It was hotter than heck here… 88° which is like mid summer. And it took some getting used to being back at work…
I’m happy to be home… Part of me is still out west
I suppose all good things have to come to an end… So I don’t necessarily believe that. But our vacation did have to come to an end. We woke up early packed up castonguay drink coffee and then he took us to the airport. It’s the only picture I have of the day of him driving off.
