Saturday night – Cleaning shop

Was a cold and rainy day today so Diane and I decided we would start to tackle one of the biggest job space enough that is to redo our shop.… That meant cleaning absolutely everything out of it. Here’s what it look like

And here’s what came out of it… And eventually have to go back in… Or at least some of it :-)

What comes next is that we Paint the walls and ceiling, put on new countertops… epoxy the floor, And install all the new shelving I just ordered… Then comes the work I actually pissing the stuff back in there in an orderly way. Wish us luck :-)

Friday night – UVM computer science fair

Today I went and charged at the semester computer science fair at UVM. Something I always look forward to. You get to see the students work… I was in the small team judging the advanced projects… They were mostly very good.… It was even more fun looking at the beginners projects because you could sort of see their ambition

I ran into so many friends on campus today… Super fun

I had a short break so I went over to see my friend Dave and he showed me a new reciprocating

motor he just built

Tomorrow calls for a full day of rain… Diane and I are thinking of starting in on rebuilding the shop… Big job but it’s gonna be nice when it’s done!

Wednesday night – Popsicles

Do you know that song “I can see clearly now” by Johnny Nash? I’ve been singing it all day in my head… This cataract surgery is pretty friggin amazing. I think I can see through walls now.

I’m now cleared to drive at night again which is pretty wonderful… And the most amazing thing is that I can read again. It may not seem like much but whenever I was confronted with a restaurant menu or a tax form I would kind of go into a panic. I realize I’ve been trying to fake people out that I could actually still see that stuff for about six months. Literally I could not read. I was able to do OK on a screen because I could make the words big but I printed piece of paper… Unless it was in large font I couldn’t read it even with my glasses.

It wasn’t much of an issue when we were all locked down in Covid… But as I’ve started to travel again and had to read customs forms and stuff like that it has been pretty scary. Do I

And all fixed in one our 20 Minute procedure.… Do I feel like science is wonderful… Our bodies are wonderful… Doctors like Julie Larson are wonderful…

By the way… When I was a kid I used to get the words to that Johnny Nash song Wrong. I always heard it as:

I can see clearly now the rain has gone.

I can see all the Popsicles in my way

Now that I can read again. i see that’s not quite right… But it still makes me smile 🙂
