Sunday night – Elemental

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody. We started the day with some wonderful chocolate bread that Diane had made… And some leftover empanadas from last night. Breakfast of champions

Diane and I had an interesting Valentine’s Day adventure today… decided we wanted to explore the old snipe Ireland to snipe Island Road. It was a road that connected the town of Richmond Vermont and West Bolton Tennis Court it was in use more than 100 years ago… We decided to do it the hard way. We started up on the stage Road and walked down the vast snowmobiler trail to snipe Ireland Road… It was a beautiful snowshoe… On fairly packed trails… Towards the end it was really beautiful… All downhill though.

Then we walked a couple of miles on the abandoned road Up towards the other end which is a short paved road that comes off Nashville Road in West Bolton.

Once we got off the snake Island Road we found snowshoe tracks heading up into the woods which we decided to travel… Our hope was to short cut some of the road walk that we had planned up to get back to our car… That prove to be much more complicated than we thought… Using our GPS we Managed to point ourselves in the right direction but it was a steep ridge with basically a cliff at the other side blocking us from going the direction that we really wanted… We ended up having to backtrack some but then managed to get onto Bentley Road which was further down Nashville Road… From there we walked back delivery road and then stage Road back to our car… All in all it was about 8.7 miles that’s it. Much of it in calf deep snow.… Both of us are pretty tired from that… But it was a really beautiful day

We got home pretty late…

We were about to take part the puzzle that day and had got me for my birthday… It’s the periodic table of the elements. Pretty fun… We’re finding that puzzles… As funny as that sounds… Our great way to pass the time during the apocalypse.

Super fun reading about with all the elements are used for. I did happen to look up the element that corresponds to my age which is wonderfully “samarium”

Diane is neodymium

Thank you Dmitriy Mendeleev

For creating this great system Organizing the worlds elements

Saturday night – mandala

Peaceful day… Began with a presentation for an alumni group for JNTU Hyderabad They were wonderful group…

A bit later diane, Kyle and I went for 3 mile ski up the river sure… We were doing some field research for some of the parking committee work that we are on. It was beautiful conditions

When we got back we decided to make a snowman Dalal… ‘Diane had seen some cool YouTube’s about some people doing it in Finland so we got a long rope and went out in the snow and made 100 foot wide Snowflower. One of us stood in the middle holding the rope and the others of us walked keeping the rope tight to make perfect circles… We progress that around the edge to make six petals and then stomp them down. It’s a little hard to see from the ground… But here’s what we could do. I also have a making a video that I made from the house while we were doing it

Ryan also made progress on scanning and she found some really nice pictures Of the kids from long ago

So nice to see these

They tug at my heart strings

Nite all, nite sam (nice to see you)

Friday night – peaches en regalia

Diane and I just watched “Zappa”

(https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/zappa_2020). A 2020 movie about the life of Frank Zappa. One of my favorite musicians.it’s a two hour movie directed by Alex winter and coproduced by Ahmet Zappa, frank’s son

Frank Died in 1993 of prostate cancer. he Was an amazing and unusual musician that I listened to all through high school and college… Totally love this music. It kind of combined really amazing jazz rock with crazy stories. The funny thing is I’m not really a jazz fan… But for Frank I was

Check out “peaches and regalia”

The movie turned me onto a lot of Zappos classical music. I’ve heard some of it but I didn’t know how much he had done of it and how involved he was. It also covered his work to protect freedom of speech during the late 80s early 90s when folks in Congress were trying to ban music with the explicit lyrics

If you’re Zappa fan… I totally recommend the movie if you’re not a Zappa fan… Give it a try… Who knows?

Thursday night- theee hobbies

I had the pleasure today of talking to my old friend and one time boss harriet G. Harriet used to be the General Manager of the division I worked in during my previous job. In addition to being a fun and demanding boss she became my trusted friend and mentor . Harriet retired from ibm and moved from Singapore back to England just before covid hit . We’d kept in touch by email but Hade my spoken since then. Today we had a good long catch up.. it was great to see her .. she’s as busy as ever despite the lock down and her advice to me was spot on and just what I needed to hear . She’s quite an inspiration .

She has a new web page https://harrietgreen.com that’s fun to look through.

One thing I found there was this

I gotta work on those 3 hobbies !
