Friday night (delayed) – mercury in retrograde

Didn’t get a chance to blog yesterday.. it was a busy day.. I’d originally planned to take it off.. but changed my mind,, My one venture out was to take the mercury that Scott needed to get rid of to the hazardous waste depot. The great thing is , they recycle the mercury for new uses.. there s mercury distiller down in Massachusetts.. and that’s where it goes. I felt a little weird driving around with it. We used to play with it as kids.. even pouring it into our hands. Now if you lose a few drops in a school, they close the place down and folks come in in hazmat suits to clean it up !

here I am dropping the stuff off.. Nice to see it going to a good cause !

Tuesday night – Groundhog year

Seriously… Doesn’t this year sort of remind you of Groundhog Day?… I mean the movie… You wake up every day .. And it seems more or less the same.… Diane and I have gotten in the habit of saying good morning it’s Tuesday… Or whatever. Sometime we honestly really have to think about what day it is.

Tonight we decided to watch Groundhog Day the movie… I honestly don’t think I’ve seen it since the 90s. We decided to watch it because Diane’s yoga class today it was based on a really nice piece she’d seen on the movie.

Essentially the peace can you describes Bill Murray’s “Phil” journey as a journey of yogic discovery.… When he got stuck in the loop of every day being the same he started miss using it.… He stole things, he took it vantage of people… He was unkind.… But then he started going into despair. He found weird ways of killing himself but always the next morning he was awake in the same bed… It wasn’t until he was confronted with someone else’s death… The old homeless man that he became he started using his powers to help other people, saving a kid from falling off a tree, saving man from choking, fixing peoples cars… All in crammed into that one day

We watch the movie and it was really great. Bill Murray is so goofy… And seen him and Andy McDowell go through all of those scenes each one the same but totally different… What a hoot to make that movie…!

It wasn’t until he found true love after much practice that he actually escaped his loop…

Well… I’ve had True love for a long time.…

I guess it’s gonna take more than that to escape the crazy loop… We’re all in…

I guess the only thing we can do until that happens is use the repeated time At homewell.

“

Happy groundhog year !

Monday night – 600 Faces

As I’ve written before… Dianne and I are working to digitize all of our paper photos and consolidate them with all of her digital photos. Were using Google photos because the AI seems to be the best there. I just noticed that the total picture count crossed 135,000 today

I just finished annotating the 600 recognized face… That’s 600 names and faces I’ve had to connect. Talk about a great exercise your long-term memory.… There are many folks in there who my know who they are but can’t come up with their names… That involves some research. Still … I’m proud to say I have 600 of them named. There are still many more to do and every day the AI recognizes more names from the pictures that ‘Diane has scanned that day.

I think I might’ve said this already… But it’s kind of a cool pleasure to be able to spend a little time looking at all these pictures and remembering the times I’ve seen that person and where.… It’s like reliving a lot of travel, food, pets, trails…. It’s the perfect virtual vacation from this crazy lockdown

Sunday night – Shadows to the right

Beautiful but chilly day today. About -10 Fahrenheit this morning.… Not so cold for here… But the first real winter temperatures.… It was sunny and bright so we decided to go out anyway.… The air it warmed up to the low teens so why not. We headed up to catamount Trail. We ended up walking the first couple of miles because the snow was so packed and we didn’t need snow shoes. We had it off trail initially bound to see some old beaver ponds we like to visit and then realized That we didn’t have time to make what would’ve been about a 7 mile round-trip. Instead we decided To snowshoe back along the ridge along the east of Preston, Brooke.… We had our GPS but we decided to see if we could do it by dead reckoning.… We decided to keep our shadows to the right and see how well that went.… That can work as long as you’re not Moving long enough for the sun to move too much

Between that and our fancy GPS we had no trouble tracking that 2 1/2 miles back. It was lovely deep snow and really nice hiking except for some serious brambles where the land had been logged a few years back

Beautiful day…

Spent the rest of the day trying to catch up for The week ahead…

One other great mile stone today.… We finished another puzzle. It’s amazing how satisfying that is in these crazy times

Ok More tomorrow
