Saturday night – Oxbow

I actually woke up this morning at around 1030. I cannot think of a time where I’ve actually gone to bed at a normal hour and woken up that late. It was amazing.

I’m glad I slept a little late. Last night was pretty cold… -19 F (-28 C).

By about noon it was getting close to zero… So we decided to go out and enjoy the snow.… We drove up the bolton Notch Road with an intent to walk back home over duck Brook. But so many people had gone through there that you hardly needed snowshoes As the snow was so packed.

Instead we walked across the path and up the vast snowmobile trails. They hadn’t been used so there was a good 18 inches of snow… It was a steep climb with beautiful sunshine and weather in the low teens. Perfect day to be outdoors.

We came around a turn on this and use trail and we’re very surprised to see an ancient T bar

ski lift sitting in the forest.

It obviously type in used for a long time. I knew immediately what we were looking at. It was the relics of the old oxbow ski area which operated briefly around 1971 in the area. The lift was falling apart but still had T bars hanging from a wire. It was so cool!

On the way down it was deep enough for us to use our “butt sleds” They’re easy to carry even wen backpacking

Super fun day… Ended up with Chinese takeout. A real treat these days

nite all, nite sam
