Sunday night – tired

I called the day “tired”… Because I can’t remember what else we did. We worked around the house… Well it snowed like crazy outside. It was downright cold… I believe it was in the teens. The only thing I remember doing was getting the tires out of the basement so that we could swap the snow tires out… Ironic given the snow outside

Saturday night – First strategy meeting

Press the first half of the day at a fantastic strategy meeting for first robotics for the state. It was really a watershed moment which Brought together numbers of all first robotics program from the very Young to the most advanced into the same room. We were facilitated by the very wonderful Vijay Desai of desai management Who volunteer his time to herd these particular cats. It was an active and orderly discussion and we came away with five specific goals that we’re going to work on to help grow and sustain first robotics in the state… We have a lot of work to do but it felt like important progress. I’m so very grateful to Liz and Vijay for making this happen. I think we look back on this meeting many years from now and understand that it was an important advance in building stem skills for kids in Vermont

After the brainstorming session I came home and ‘Diane and I decided to go for a hike up a mountain we call “2360”… It doesn’t really have a name… The ones on maps it’s called “Wiley lodge peak” So it’s a nowhere really near where it while we watch used to be.… Anyway… There’s no trails but we bushwhack up to three beautiful ponds That were up there… It was a tough climb but worth it

When we got home we were beat… But we got an invite to go to see our friend Carole and Paul’s sugarhouse… Where they were boiling. Got in the car just ordered some pizzas and started driving there… On the way there ‘Diane saw something moving in my beard and pulled it out and OMG it was a tick !!!

We Picked up the pizzas and went to Paul’s sugar shack… It was a small space for the nice people and great boiling sap. We drank maple sap and rum and eat pizza… Doesn’t get much better than that

Friday night – hatchspace

dad and I had a great adventure on Friday… First took a hike in the morning. Then we drove down to ours to Brattleboro to meet up with an interesting collection of friends. My friend Neil who is a professor at MIT had gotten a bunch of us together and included my friend Lars are used to be a generator was dead at artist asylum and is now attached base in Brattleboro, my friend Leo from hat club, my friend ‘Jen from the University of Vermont and our new friend Tom who is one of the founders of hatch space. Hatch base is a wonderful wood-based maker space down in Brattleboro. It’s a great funky or building and it is full of incredibly talented woodworkers. I’m so happy that Lars is now the executive director of it.… It was a great collection of people I’ve known from all different places all converging in one area. It’s been a great hour looking around the place

From there we drove up to East Dummerston a few miles north to Tom’s beautiful solar powered house. It really is a treasure with all custom woodwork.… Tom’s friend Johnny and his wife wendy showed up turns out that JOHNY was at IBMer for a long time… He’s also a great physical computing person. I think there’s some cool stuff we could all do together. It was a great evening… ‘Diane and I had to leave before dinner because we had guests coming to meet us in Richmond… But it was really nice to spend a little time with everyone before running out

We got back home around a 8:45 and our friends MICHAEL and Liz both showed up from different parts of the world. Both of them were getting together with us for a brainstorming session on Saturday about first robotics.… It was really nice having a beer with both of them.
