we had a wonderful snow day yesterday. just the kind of day we needed . we hung out indoors and worked on converting the ‘toy room’ to the ‘plant room’ . diane is going to use it for starting seedlings and for growing year round. we cleaned out the room and assembled some steel shelving. the lights should arrive next week.
mod day we had a short zoom with the kids which was really nice
the we headed off for a walk in the storm. we just went up dugway road. I noticed that diane was wearing the colors of the Ukrainian flag 🇺🇦
we came back and started digging out our driveway from nearly a foot of snow. our very lind neighbor jeff pitched in with his snowblower
diane made a beautiful challah .. the traditional bread of shabbat . i’m not observant in that way, but I have to admit that the idea of a day of rest every week really resonates i’m working hard not to work at all on fridays . no particular reason other than I want to make more free time for me and for me and diane to have fun. today was really nice a slow day.
the ‘challah men’ reference is because I was thinking of TS Elliot’s poem the Hollow Men kind of captures the gloomy place many of us find ourselves these days .
Today started very early. My buddy Chris and I had to get a design for the fire effects for ourduaneswhirld burning man campmart car. we’re going pretty simple just one medium size propane pooffer. We’re concentrating on simplicity and robustness.… And of course safety. We started working at around 730 and had the designs ready by 8:30
I didn’t headed off to work… It was a really fun day. There are some great new art in the building and we were lucky to have my friend John Abele come and speak to the whole company. He told a fantastic story about the creation of Boston scientific… And how the culture of the company changed… And didn’t change… Overtime. It was incredibly inspiring
I feel very grateful for being able to work around? Folks like John and ‘kyle
It was a pretty full day. Mid day Dianne and I got out for a hike to take in some of the last of the winter snow (Or so we thought) honey Hollow Road was a pure sheet of ice… So we hiked with krampons up from Honey Hollow pretty far over about three bridges. It was really beautiful up there
Later that afternoon Dianne went and picked up our friend Finn… Finn wanted to mess around in the shop so we decided to make an electric ignited smoke ring. Finn enjoyed working with gun powder Dry coffee creamer, and electric fuses… We made a remote detonator. Super fun.
