The day… ‘Diane and I went down to lower gorge instead in the water for a while which is always nice.…
The rest of the day we just worked around the house. One of the things we’re monitoring is the parking problems at the Bombardier meadows across the way. As part of our parking advisory Committee we’re trying to figure out prevent the parking there from spilling out dangerously into the street.… Unfortunately no matter what we do people take advantage and park where they shouldn’t..
If we cant figure out a way to get folks to be more careful with parking, the RLT may needf to shut down this parkign area.. which would be a shame !
THis evening about 700 of us went down to our friends (and bosses) Katie and Kyles house in Lincoln for a company wide Summerfest party.
They live way out in Lincoln with a beutiful view of My Abe.. What a place. It was SOOOOO fun getting to see all of our work freinds relaxing in such a beutiful place. THere were bands including my friends Ryan O and Ryan M… Ryan M had his band Guster there which has strong Lincoln connection. THe music was great, the food was great.. Kyle and Katie are great, BETA IS GREAT !!
there was even a giant slip and slide !
We got to see 3d printed mugs in the shape of our friend Andrew ! (modeled by friend Bryce)
Busy day at work, I did sneak some time down at Nordic (Earthkeep farm common) to try the first edge lighting of the clouds for Fluffy.. the burning man bus.
This is the first time we saw whether putting the LED strips on their side would work … and be bright enough and even enough to use. We were pretty happy with the result !
I was down in Cambridge to give a talk to the MIT-IBM Lab interns.. it’s something I enjoy doing because I get to meet them all and see what they did with their internship. I’m always impressed
As I was preparing for my talk I realized that today was my 41st service anniversary for IBM . Even though I’m working for IBM just one day a week still.. i still think of it as my ‘work family’ .. I remember the day in aug 3, 1981 walking into the IBM building..
I remember having to wear a sweater !.. and I remember getting to shoot a fire extinguisher at a chair as apart of a safety orientation..
Another thought,.. between me, diane and diane’s late father.. my wonderful father-in-law gabe.. we now have 85 years of IBM history in the family
I worked that into my talk… which was fun
I loved hanging our and seeing my ibm and mit friends…
