Today we used all the sunshine to get more painting done on Gabes house… I had to head back to Vermont for some work stuff.. diane is following a day and a half later. It feels strange to be heading home before things are completely done.. but it’s almost done.   Gabe dropped me off at my overnight flight

It was a great visit !

Gabes beautiful dog Nova turned one year old today !>. It was an all day party

when we got home, we had just enough time to take max, becky and nova to the wonderful crystal springs garden on the campus of reed college. It was amazingly beautiful.. so many flowers !

We then drove home, Picked up Max and beys luggage and took them to the airport.. It was so great hanging out with them

Later that night Gabe and Sam st up a special birthday party for nova.. .. She loved the attention..

We love our granddogs !.. (See you soon too Violet !)

My day was beautiful in Portland. We started out with a waffle breakfast… Our friends Brigette and john and their dog Tony were still there so we made the whole thing gluten-free which was really tasty.

midday we headed to a really nice flea market in SE portland. lots of cool vintage clothing

we got sandwiches on the way home and had a nice pic ic the. we took a looooooong walk through the lauralhurst area. lots of flowers and super nice and very pricey i’m guessing houses . the only weird thing was that there were police everywhere because of some sort of gathering at the park.. never figured out what was up.

we stopped at a place called ‘crack and cheese’ for some interesting ice cream.. like a vanilla cone covered with beet powder for max

we finished the day with thai take out as max and becky packed to go

it rained on and off all day which gave us permission to put down our paint brushes and enjoy all being together

max , diane and I took nova to the park

then we all went out to brunch at a really nice place nearby

midday I spent watching max gabe playing a crazy difficult video game about cooking !

later we all went to burnside to check out some cool stores including the most amazing light bulb store I have ever seen, a bubble tea place and a really weird and exotic taxidermy and science oddity store

we went home and ran in to our old vermont neighbors oliver tone on the road .. he was the kid that famously got me in trouble with the elementary school when he went home and ate a battery after seeing me do a science demonstration at his school

then we did take out from a new and amazing fish and chips

place a few blocks from gabé. who knew that a fish and chips burrito could be so great ?! brought back great memories of alfors, the fish and chips

we finished the night at a local Mead tavern called Wyss that gabes neighbor ted really likes . yummy mead and a last call ceremony that involved drums, horns and aztec death whistles !
