Wednesday night – Attics of my mind

I had a interesting adventure today. For the last 20 years I’ve had an extra office at the IBM site here in Vermont to house some of the gear I used to do science outreach in schools.… Even though I haven’t worked in Burlington since 2012… And that Ibm has sold that property to global foundries… I still have that room. Last year it was a tremendous flood in the building where that room was and my room and every other on that floor we’re covered in 4 inches of mud. You may recall that I had to move all of my stuff into a new storage space To allow for cleaning my own space. That was an opportunity to get rid of about 2/3 of the stuff that was in there.. here’s A picture of all of that http://johncohn.org/base/2021/01/14/thursday-night-muddy-memories/

Well today I had to move the stuff yet again because IBM was consolidating the few people who are still on site.… My friend ‘Dave helped me move all of that stuff up two floors to a new storage place.… Even with the reduced amount… It was a ton of stuff. Lots of great memories.

My deep thanks to Ibm and global foundries and Dave for allowing me to keep the storage place… I look forward to getting back to doing in person outreach schools as soon as Covid allows

Monday night – getting cold

Monday was an incredibly busy day… Not even 15 minutes free… It doesn’t really feel like retirement.I feel like I’m working harder than I ever did and getting paid about a quarter of it… So why am I so happy about it? I’m really enjoying what I’m doing…

Sunday night – shopped out

We walked today expecting snow but got freezing rain. By the end of the day everything was covered by a sheet of ice. I didn’t stop dying and I from heading up climbing up robins… It alternated snow and sleet but it was still nice being outside. We got to the top I got to take him review of all the cell towers…. You find beauty where you can 🙂

We took a vantage the rainy day to get some stuff done around the house. ‘Diane worked all day scanning some new photos from her family… It’s a lot of work but it’s super valuable

Meanwhile I kept working on the new shop. I put the last coat of urethane on the new countertops and then start a thing infinite tedious process of going through Alastair that came out of there… Trying to sort it into new containers throw stuff away give stuff away recycle . it’s gonna be a long process !
