A couple of days ago, we learned that our friend Rose Leland had died. SHe’d had Cancer for several years. She was a fun and spirited person. We knew Rose and her husband Jim mostly through their kids Connor and Caleb. Connor was a good friend of Sams.. they played soccer together for years. I remember dropping kids off at their house after practice many times. Today we went up to see Jim, Conor. Caleb and Caleb’s wife Maggie. It was good being with them in their beautiful log house. We hadn’t seen any of them in a long time. We all talked about Rose and caught up. It was really nice looking at pictures of Roe, Jim and their family THere was lots of love in that house. We had bread that Conor (I think) had made using his grandmothers recipe. It was good being together
GOod day at work.. then I hosted 66 members of the local chapter of the IEEE (the professional society for electrical engineers) at BETA>. I was pretty surprised at the turn out.. we usually have only about 15-20 folks at these meetings. There were so many good friends in the group.. it was really fun to show them around. I thin that they had. very good time seeing what we are doing !
Finn is with us for another day. We celebrated spring by putting up the trampoline.. one of the most treasured spring rituals. Finn was a big help !
Mid day, DIane brought Finn into Beta.. and brought with her a yummy sushi lunch ! It was fun showing Finn around where I work.
That night we all made ‘Vermont Curry’.. Diane and Finn had found it at Sakura.. our favorite Japanese restaurant. Vermont Curry is famous in Japan because of a food fad back in the 70s(?) When apples and apple cider vinegar were thought to have great health benefits. Weirdly the stuff got and stayed famous in japan.. even though it has neither apples or apple cider vinegar in it. You can find it anywhere .. even in gas station groceries like I did here many years ago. Look at the ingredient list !
Crazy !
Afterwards we all took a walk up the rivershore.. We found a cool and spooky looking rock and some very cool sun spots on the water
It was really nice being at work after a week gone. We have a bunch of small er demos we call FUNdamentals that we’re getting ready to release and they are so fun to build. . One side project is that we ‘inherited’ an old phone booth from Rebar.. We had a meeting to begin thinking about what to do with it .. The meeting proved it was too small to be a conference room 🙂
At home, Finn has coem to stay with us for a few days whil his mom our freind Marcie recovers from hip replacement surgery. Its great having Finn around because we liek to eat what he likes to eat… like cheesecake !!!
