Thursday night – Betakids !

Today we held an event with the Betakids.. aka kids of employees.  We were testing out soem hands on exerises that we will do with orginzations like schools and places like King Street. We had  Jeremy with the Toolbus there helping the kids cut out wooden badges. We then helped them solder together a battery  and a blinking LED to allow each kid to make a cool blinking badge with their name on it. We also had activities around conductive playdoh . We had about 30 kids.. . It was fun and we learned lots of ways to make future events even better. It was great to have Finn and DIane there to participate and help out !

Canadian fires are still filling our air with smoke.. .. you could see it in the sunset

Wednesday night – Tool bus tattoos

Exiting day at work today. Our friend Jeremey brought his amazing tool bus to Beta for a practice session.  Made it helped Jérémy outfit bus with every sort of maker, tool… CNC mills, a laser, cutter, 3-D, printers, welders, handtools, even a robot that could give tattoos. We were practicing for a beta kids event that we were having later in the week. It’s so fun working with Jérémy. Bunch of people at work got robotic, tattoos. Not for me though… My only tattoo is on my tooth.

Tuesday night – Talented kids

Note: . i’ve been off blogging for several weeks due to life being busy.. here starts my good faith effort to catch up 🙂

Today was a normalish day at work.. got a chance to meet my frein Jerry’s brother and sister in law… they are both Burners from Taos. Danny is like my not so evil twin. He’s an amazing maker… I’m really glad to get to know him !

Also got a chance to briefly meet another Dan.. this one is a friend of my good friend Nick. I helped him find a summer gig with the wonderful Beth White and friends at Habitat for Aviation in Highgate.

This afternoon Shannon and I drove up to Northern Vermont University (formerly Johnson State University ) to do a Jolts and Volts show for the Gifted and talented middle school program that my friend Colin helps run every summer.. It’s was my third show for the year and it’s beginning to feel good again after the Covid hiatus in doing shows. THis show had about 60 kids.. all of them wicked smart and in to technology. Colin and his colleagues have been running this program for years.. I can’t even imagine how cool it is for all these middle school kids to be able to get out of their own houses and take a vaca at a college campus. !  Colin is soooo great with the kids !

Got home and checked on the fledglings.. They were still there together huddled in the gras.. Mams and pap robin were still feeding thm.. all systems go I think !
