Wednesday night – back for a bit

I felt a bit like a boomerang … we’re back for a few days before heading off on our next trip. Today we took on cleaning out the last room in the house.. we call it the ‘toy room’.. its the room that has a TV.. though its only hooked up to the kids gaming consoles. Its also the repository for all the guitars and basses we have in the house.. Going hthrough them was sweet and sad… Sam played each of these instruments.. as did Max and Gabe. Each one has so many stories. .. The  first Mark II ‘toy’ guitar (complete with uneaten gum and some bottle rockets 🙂

Sam’s  Shecter

All the kids played this gibson

And Sam’s classical guitar with his albinez music still in it

I have pictures of the guit that sam and I made and the bass that max and I made.. but cant find the pictures.

Great memories !

Monday night – (Be)labor day

Today was labor day.. with a little more birthday added in.. (Birthday + Labor ..Belabor.. Is that funny ? Dunno ? )

Diane and I Walked over to the AirBNB to say good bye to the Texicohns.. Turns out that Betsy was positive for Covid.. 🙁 .. (She’s doing ok now !)

Max, Becky Mary , and I had brunch in town
Then Max and Becky packed up and headidn to the MN Sceince Museum in St. Paul. Diane and I picked up Mom and met them at the Museam. It was a fantastic museum.. a ton of really well done hands on interactive displays. I got soem great ideas looking at them. They had a great exhibit on medical fake treatments..   I really loved the amount of interactivity  in many of their demos. Like this giant space amn.. you could put your face on theis 2 story high space man..

Then we stumbled on to something magical: It was the last day of a show by Christopher Marley .

He collects specimens of animals,  plants and minerals and arranges them as art. It was a little creepy.. but  also very cool. We were vewry happy to catch it.

After that , we had a great time playing with the interactive science demos..    they were some of the  best ones I’ve ever seen: Bernoulli beach ball, science of light, tornado

Then it was tiem for Max and Becky to head to their plane.. We said goodbye.. and headed back to mary’s

We said goodbye to my Mom.. SHe’d had a great birthday.. Happy 90th birthday mama ! You havent changed a bot since 70 ! We love you !

From there we had a nice quick visit with our good friends Jeff and Karen.. Jeff and I shared an office when we both he and Karen and Diane and I lived in the UK in 1984-85.. Great to keep that friendship going !

End of a great weekend !

I dropped gabe off at the airport

Then headed to the Museum to meet up with Max, Becky and Diane.. It was a sweet little museum.. most importantly it was nice and cool ! t was a great place to go because ot the heat. it was almost 100 degrees F today !!

Then back to moms for take out Thai !

Another hi light of the evening was a gift that Shaun had brought all the way from texas.. it was a package of an Icelandic delicacy called Hakarl

which is fermented shark. It’s supposed to be one of the nastiest foods in the world.  We cut it open and ate it..

Actually.. not too bad..until the smell !  Its kind like anchovies dipped in ammonia.

Cant forget.. my mom gave me a bernie sanders doll.. kinda funny as I dont know him well.. .. (but   I did have a short viral moment with him  a few years back 🙂
