Thursday night – Heading to Lafayette

Here we go again !.. This time to Lafayette Louisiana for the wedding of my Cousin Lisa’s daughter Hannah.

Its a long set of trips between two small cities., but we got there in time for the rehearsal dinner. I’m super glad that we’re going to this wedding because I don’t get to see this side of the family very much . Lisa is the daughter of my late uncle JM and my Aunt Brigette. THe only people we really knew at the dinner  were Lisa, her mom Brigette, my cousin Leslie and her husband Brett.  So we got started meeting people !

Here’s the wedding family From Left to right. My Cousin Chase, his wife Morgan, Lisa’s Husband Rob, my cousin Madalyn (named after my grandma),  Keith (the groom), Hannah (the bride), and my cousin Lisa. Chase, Madelyn and Hannah are all kids of Lisa and Robs,

And here they are with my Aunt Brigette.

I love Brigette.. shes got so many great stories.. and the best memory for my dad’s side of the family.

We sat down and there were a few speaches. One by Kevin, Keiths dad,

One by Keiths brother Gavin

Then Lisa’s husband Rob gafve a heartfelt speach

Then Keith and Hannah welcomed and thanked everyone.. You can tell thet they are really in love !

I got some time with my cousin Lisa who I don’t think i’ve seen in more than 10 years ! (too long !)

Here are cousin Leslie and Brett.. It was really good getting to hang out with them. Brett retired and now has a job driving the train at Herman Park Zoo  3 times a week. iHes got the hat and the whole outfit. ts a dream job for him !

Then more talking and more pictures. It was a real fun night. I loved hearing all the Louisiana accents. It really took me back to all the times we went to New Orelans to visit our grandparents and JM and Brig.

Super fun night. Very glad we came down for this !

Wednesday night – Begins hole

Woke up early and took Chirs and Jean on a walk to begins hole, down the street. Begins hole was one of our kids favorite places to swim in the river. and our dogs went there many times a week.  Many happy memories 🙂

Loved the shimmering sun in the water !

We went home and Chris and Jean headed off to the Adorondacs. It had been really good to see them !

Tuesday night – Chris and Jean

Tonight we had visitors. My old freind Chris and his wife Jean are visiting the US frm the UK. Chris is a former IBM fellow like me.. and has been one of my friends and mentors for many year.s It was really wonderful catching up with Chris and getting to know Jean.  We got to see some wonderful pictures of the farm(?) where they live in Dorset.. such beautiful country . hris and I had fun exchanging IBM stories and traded what we knew about he whereabouts of our many mutual friends.

Jean is a great story teller too. Got to see nice pics of grandkids, horse , dogs, and the lovely Dorset countryside.

Also learned a new. word from them  “quango” which is
a semipublic administrative body outside the civil service but receiving financial support from the government, which makes senior appointments to it.

It was really interesting to hear Chris and Jeans path in Retirement.. Gave me lots to think about !

love seeing old friends !
