Began mhis morningby driving  Kenzie to the  trailhead and dropping  her off for her last 4 days of hicking the long trail.. Luckily the rain had let up./// hope she stays dry

 

At work today we had a group from the GIV Mathmatics camp come through. Rebar led the tour.. he does such a great job !

The mathematicians were incredibly nice and nerdy

 

 

Came hop to find the garage fiull of freshly picked garlic..

Diane and I took a morning run to check out the state of the river after all the flooding. At the Long Trail bridge we came upon a wet and tired long trail hiker named Kenzie.. She had just learned that the trail from the bridge was closed due to flooding.. so she’d have to go around.. we offered her use of our house so she could get a shower, refuel and rest. She accepted our offer.. and showed up at the house a bout 30 min after we got home from our run. I .. She felt welcome enoguh to stay with us for the night in a dry place to sleep..

What a crazy scene.. more flooding today And a dnager of a major catastrophe.. t

 I left work early when I heard that they were considering a dam release iat the Wrightsville dam n Montpellier. That  might bring another 5-8 feet of rise.. that would have put the water in our yard if not our house.. !

 

I picked up soem empty sandbags to the way home in case we or neighbors needed them. My idea was to drop them at my friend Jerry’s who lives down Duxbury rd.. but buy the time I got home, Cochran. rd, Rout 2 and Duxbury road we’re all closed.. We couldn’t even get to him. I had to come home by way of Huntington !
