Today I headed in to UVM to have a coffee (thoguh I dont drink coffee) with my friend Lapo.. He’s the guy who turned me onto p5.JS. Lapo and I have a couple of projects going… He did one of the pieces in the Ei art show that’s currently at Burlington city arts. We’re trying to figure out a way of making that software interactive into something that exists in the physical world. We have some cool ideas including making something that’s a 3-D movable object and another one that is using projected light… Should be fun. Lapo is also starting to help me on a project for the local branch pf project makeawish… make a wish grants special wishes to sick kids and their families to help give them something they can enjoy… I’m trying to help them improve the visual experience of introducing the wish grant to the child in her/his family
Later on I Got a cool pic from my friend Adam . Adam and I have been working on a bio sensing project together… He finished his PhD at MIT media lab last year and promptly moved to Sitka Alaska to study the dream culture of indigenous people up there. Last week … A total coincidence my friend Vijay from here in Vermont told me that his daughter Dahlia was working with Adam. She helped start the school where Adam is teaching. Today Adam sent me a picture of the two of them
Tonight we had two new friends over for dinner : Aria and Daniel. They just moved here from Denmark and bought a house in Essex. Its a big move. Aria is my PhD co-advisor Ricks daughter.. I think the last time I saw her she was 4.. she and dan are so great !. they decided to come to vermont after weighing the pros and cons of (I think) 132 different cities and towns in the US.. Burlington area won !. We had such a good time getting to know them and telling them about things to do here in VT. I
Busy day at work.. so busy I missed a call with my freind Vasu who’s in India visiting family. Vasu is from Cochin a town in Kerila that Diane, Gabe and I once visited. Cochin is unique in that it had a large Jewish community back in the 18th and 19th centuries. Pursuit sent me some pictures from the old cemetery there and I caught a picture of our last name in hebrew… Kind of weird
After work. we had one of our FLuffy stand up meetings. this one was at Beta. Rebar gave a nice overview of the collaboration tech we’re using for the project (slack. google drive and google cal.. then Diane and I led an exercise with our cloud models.. and there was Pizza !!!
