Tuesday night – Valentine’s day

Today was valentines day.. not a day we do much to ,mark.. but today we decided to hike camels hump in the early morning. It was a weekday so we saw very few folks. The snow was great so we brought our butt sleds”.. they’re basically just plastic discs that you sit on and slide down.  TYhe hike up was great.. I could still feel soem covid in my breathing.. . It was beutiful, stilla nd sunny on the way up.. and we were warm as we were keepign a good pace. bet we still got up and down in 2 hours and 20 min.  It was COLDn and windy up tehre.. we couldnt stay on the peak long.. but what a view !

Sledding down was SOOOOO fun. .it was fast and steep.. high in Vitamin F (fun !) . we got all the way down to the parking lot.. and what an ab workout !

I got home in time  to get a good day of work in. We have a big meeting coming up in the next couple of weeks.. and we have a few demos we’re trying to finish up.. so I needed the time.  I celebrated the work day with a trip through the car wash.. so cool and trippy !

Our car felt happy !

We cooked a very red dinner. to celebrate V Day..  i’m so  happy and grateful  to be in a relationship where most days feel like valentines day 🙂

Sunday night – Town Forest

Dang.. still testing positive.. but feeling pretty good.

We took a 5ish mile hike in the Richmond town forest. We’d never been so far back in there.. It’s really beautiful and remote.. and only about 3 miles from our house. We hiked over to Preston pond and back.
So pretty and quiet !

It was so nice being out in the sun !

Saturday night – Not at FTC

today was the day of Vermonts FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics competition. I was to have been the Emcee but I was still testing positive for Covid.. so I had to sit it out.   I was so sad to have missed it in person. but thanks to the great job the organizers did in streaming, I was able to watch the whole thing. My friend Scott, the Chair of FIRST in VT hosted the event instead of me.. and he did a really fabulous job !  Better than I could have done for sure !. We had 19  Vermont teams this year which was the most we’d ever had for a face to face event . It was such a well run event.    I have deep appreciation for all the volunteers that put this together especially my friends Liz, Holly and Doug. We had opening talks by my friend and boss Kyle C from Beta and my friend Neda, who was on the Afghanistan FRC team before ebign evacuated to the US nearly 2 years ago. Both gave great talks !

Thee are pics I took from the live stream.

I’m so excited about how FTC and all the FIRST programs are growing in Vermont..!

IIt was a bright and sunny day outside.. and even though I had to stay away from people.. I didn’t  need to stay away from nature. Diane and I took a walk up near Gillette pond. We wanted to check out the new dam that the Richmond Land Trust is going to build up there. We were interested as frequent user f Gillette pond.. and as Richmond Parking advisory members. We were checking out the proposed parking situation up there. It looks like the RLT is doing a nice job to anticipate the  parking needs of visitors

.

It’s so nice to be back home !
