I spent the day talking to Akassh’s team and learning more about what they do . I’m really impressed with all of the team. Around noon my good friends David W and Elpida came in from POK. They were there to understand how they might also work with Red Hat. I felt privileged to be there to hear the brainstorming .
Meanwhile, A few hundred miles away my old boss Dario was at his Senate Confirmation hearing to be the new Undersecretary of Sceince for the US. He’s a great guy.. and is exactly the type of person we need to advocate science in these crazy times.
Dario did a good job answering questions. He got questions from both left and right leaning senators… One even brought his dog in the appeal for burning more coal… (Which i think is crazy). I was so proud of Dario.. and happy for him that things went well.
That night we had a great dinner at Akash and Erikas and got to meet their dog Ladoo ..
Wonderful to see them all in their natural habitat !!
After work Diane and I heade south to Boston I was goign down to see my good friend Akash who now works at the IBM subsidiary RedHat. I hadent seen him since…. 2023 when I almost gave him covid.. It was great meeting his team at RedHat.. they are so smart and fun !
When big treat is that we got to watch Akash record a session of his new podcast “no math AI”… His cohost is my friend Isha Puri, daughter of my freinds Ruchir and Rashi. I’ve known Isha since she was a young girl … She’s now PhD student at MIT. They are great pair as hosts. \THeir guest today was Prof Faez Ahmed.. It was so fun watching them record the session. All three of them were so clear and accessible in thier questiosn and answers. Very inspiring !
After the recording, we all went out to a great Greek place… Akash’s wife Erica came in, met us.. It was really fun to see everybody.
One of the joys of home ownership is the conversations you need to have with all of its parts. .. Today our water softener need some love.. I spent some quality time with it (her ?) .. heard its stories.. how its trouble managing our waters various menerals and hardness.. I did soem hands on therapy
