Started the day in my funky but nice airbnb,,, then walked to Github HQ who was hosting our Undercity hackaton
Undercity is a 54 (?) hour hackathon which is the colmination of the Highway hardware campaign from my friends at Hackclub. My friends Alex and Acon are the master minds behind the event. We’re being hosted by Github in their beutiful HQ in San Fran. THere are 136 high school stundents here from all over the world.. at hack clubs expense. Their goal is to make soemthing amazing in the 2 and a half days they here hours they have..
I am so excited to be here. Its already been such a well run event. The Github dfolks have been great and the event volunteers are super fun.
I spent the morning helping set up. Meghanna and I were the ‘quartermasters’.. we sorted abd organized the zillion bits of hardware that teh hackclubbers could use in their projects..
Sooooo. you probably knwo that I travel quite a bit.. you may also know thta I have a repution for haivng a loose grasp of passing time.. Know that, it may surprise you to hear that i’ve never missed a flight due to my own actions..
that is. until today. I checked in for my flight on my way to tSan Fran.. and thoguht I heard that I was taking off at gate 3.. so I sat down abd started working,. an hour and a half later, I realized that my plane.. or at least the plane at gate 3 had not boarded. it was then that I realized that my flight was actually at gate 8. .. which had left 15 min before
D-oh !
so I got on the phoen with united and found another way to get to my destination.. that involved an almost 5 hour delay.. I had time to kill so I walked back to BETA.. THere I realized that there was a blood drive. I managed to get a donation appointnment that would allow me to make myadjusted flight. .. so .. my penance for being a knuckle head.. was an unexpeccted blood donation..
Blood donation is mportant to me now that diane and I can donate again.. the bar of donating if you lived in the UK was removed last year.. I think of Blood donation as bunong one of the few ways you can do an organ donation several times a year.. I do it because its a good thing to do.. nd also in honor of Sam
THe flight was long.. and easy.. flyign is a very prodfuctive time for me.. I got a ton done before landing in San Fran about midnight..

Today was absolutely yummy .. FIrst. had a great lunch and Aromas of India.. one of our favorite restaurants.. Its all vegetarian and everything is s delicious. It was greta catching up with Yeseswi about work and about life. He’s such a great person.. and sooooo smart.
It was fun eating at an indian restaurant with him .. because he’s a native eater 🙂

Big day today.. our friend John brought over a new rock for diane’s front garden. its big and beautiful..and a great place to sitIt’s called a ‘rainbow rock’. and . It will be a great anchor to the new extension to the front garden that diane has been working on so hard..
