Sunday night – pressing matters

today diane and I did a fast steep hike up robins mountain to one of our favorite lookouts..   we wanted to get an early view of the foliage.. still greens and borwns.. still beutifull>

we foudn a samstone that we placed here on our last hike up.. probably last year.

Then we went over to bens and pressed cider from the apples he grew.. it was fun.. and a little dangerous. Gizzo got stung twice by bees tryogn to get a piece of the action.

day finished with an interesting self distruct sequence on our weed wacker.. pretty spectacular display of smoke !

Saturday night – what a pane

ugh.. a bat (we think)  flew through a window in our front entranceway a couple of weeks back. We need to do something to patch that hole before the snow flies….

I managed to clean the glass out of the frame by standing at the top of a 20 foot ladder inside. The trouble is..I need to get on the outside of the window to properly install a replacement.

I tried a few ladder positions to see if I could reach the window form the outside.. but no dice.. Looks like I either need to come up with a short term fix that mounts the window from the inside..

but then wait for a lift the next time we paint..

or maybe even repell up the side of the front ?

the joys of old houses 🙂

today was special because of a visit from my cousin Judy.  Her son John and daughter Kate, Kates husband Michael and their kids.. They are in town for my cousin Emmas wedding over the weekend.

It was great having them all in the house.. we had fun catching up.. then headed to Yates to introduce them to the wonders of a ‘dreamy’.. our favorte fall treat which is a hot cider doughnut covered in maple creamy..
