Saturday – free day in DC

Diane and I had a completely free day in DCC today.. we used it really well. I think we ended up walking 15 miles !   We went for a run in the morning.. then headed to GWU to get a yummy beakast bowl.

we stopped at teh WW2 monument and put a samstone on the Vermont tower.. check out the sunbeam as it hit the samstone !!!

then we headed to the natural history museam for awhile. some of the museums were open despite the shutdown

Then we headed to the US Postal Service museum… We get down to DC fairly often so we’re trying to spread our view out… The reason we chose the Postal Service is that Anna had a book about a famous dog “oney” who is the mascot of US Postal Service the very end of the 1800s. He ended up traveling all over the country and world.. When only died, he was stuffed and putting in this museum kind of weird but kind of cool

check out where this stage coach was from 1!

I

On the way home we stopped by the ford theatre where lincol was shot. It was closed. But we got to see a huge tower of books about lincoln

We walked down to the waterfront to have a delicious fish and chips dinner. Everybody was celebrating Oktoberfest, including this doggy.

We love this city !

Thursday – Yom Kippur

Today was Yom Kippur.. the most important day in the jewish calander.. the day you think about how you did last year, ond what your intentions are for the coming year. I’m getting les and less observant as I grow older, but I do take yom kippur pretty seriously. It’s like an annual progreess review that you do for your self.. its also when you forgive yourself for the times you slipped, and ask other you might have wronged for forgiveness.. It traditioanally a day of fasting.. which I always do. I worked quietly at home.. and lat e afternoon i took a walk by myself up to teh power lines to think.

I hope all of my friends who are members of the tribe had a good reflection today as well
