Today was the PLEX fest. Plex is an arts and music festival held every year in the North End. We’ve never been, but this year Fluffy had been invited to participate..
Eraly in the morning Rebar went down and carefully and slowly drove Fluffy from Charlotte where she currently lives up to the small streets of the North End. Huge props to Rebare for doing that. !
Diane and I got there about 10:30 and helped with setup. IN addition to Rebar we had RD, DK, Terry, and Rizzo.. Setup wasn’t too bad.. Plex couldn’t get a a permit for fire.. so tonight its only lights and music. Not having to set up the roofer does make things somewhat easier.
around 1:00 we dropped rebar off at home to change, did a little shopping then headed to Leddy park for Sophia and Shannon’s going away party. Sophia is moving to Sweden to work and live with family.y.. Shannon is leaving next week to go to grad school in Rhode Island.. They are both off to exciting experiences .. There was a nice gathering of folks down at the park.. which was fun and festive.
We got back to Fluffy about 3 . and got to see Plex coming to life.. We got our stuff working too
Diane and I took a little break to look around.. the antique/junk store “Junktiques” next to Alex is amazing
Pleas started around 5 .. there was dancing, performance art, music.. super cool and interesting
Many friends from the 802 came by to see.. here are just a few pics.
Once it was dark, fluffy really started to shine.. figuratively and literally .. she proved to be a great backdrop for some performance pieces.
This one was my favorite.. Linus, One of the organizers of Plex did an AMAZING musical piece in front of Fluffy. he’d rigged the outside of a home dryer with contact microphones.. and fed them to an amp.. and a looper.. He was a fantastic drummer and performer.. he was fierce, the quiet.. musical then chaotic. I’ll never forget that performance.
Fluffy had a good night too.. lots of dancing, great DJ’s.. lights worked and we test-drove a new remote control that Kyle M helped us create.. All good stuff !
The end of the eying was really special.. A woman we met named Marie played harp with a looper while another woman stripped and di pole dancing on Fluffy’s fire pole.. beautiful and strange..
Great way to end the day..
Thanks Plex for inviting us to participate !
