Today was a busy day around the house.. I did finish up on a project I was working on.. Here’s what I wrote about it on our company ‘show and tell’ channel
“I just did a project around the crazy kids thermal printer camera I always cary. they are about $30 and record really grainy b/w imaged on thermal receipt paper. Here’s the one I have

One of things I love about these cameras is that they print on a roll of really cheap thermal paper.. .. you can go to an event and shoot all day and end up with a roll of grainy pictures that document the whole event. .
The thing is, you end up with hundreds of these pictures that are too good to through away. and not good enough to do anything else with..
So.. I bought an obsolete NEET receipt scanner on Ebay for $20. The company no longer supports them, but I figured I could hack it to do what I wanted. Thanks to help from Claude, I found drivers for the NEET.. then wrote code to read in the rolls of printouts, detect the frames, straighten them , and upload them to google drive. I scanned several hundred pics from Hackclub hackathon events, weddings, burning man Fluffy art car events etc.. You can see them here . Code is here
I still have the limitation that I need to cut the strips into 9 images or so to get them to scan. I’m still working on getting the full continuous scan working which I can do once I figure out the how to start and stop the scanner with finer control..
the pictures look like this.

So thats what I was up to part of today
