Great set of adventure and beauty today on day 2 of our sail with Tomaz. .. we visited 4 differnt cave-like things.. two natural.. and 2 very unnatural relics from the cold war. and a little drama.. gabe hurt his knee.. but is doing alright. More on that alter.
first stop was this very cool two entry sea cave
there were quite a few other boats there… so we waited our turn. We paddled in in the dinghy
we pulled to the back ad placed a SamStone
cool mineral colors !
heres the view lookign out.. there were two entrances and a big column between them
ohter boats kept showing up
the coolest thing was this shaft of light through a hole in the cave ceiling ..
here diane and I are in the beam
look at the color of the water when the beam hits there !
\\
that light bounced up into the rocks of the celining.. I have a movie of it too
next step was this wierd inlet..
\
next stop was ‘the blue whole’ another sun light sea cavern. This guy ain a boat was tryign to charge us 200 kuna to go.. we settled for 100 kua and a cold beer.
insie was the craziest blue light as sun filtered through and underwater opening
other folkswere in there twoo.. just one other boat at first
\\gabe got soem great gopro vids
then back on the boat.. we had a playful dolphin following uis. you can barely see his dorasl flipper in this picture.
then soem knot tying. demos.. Max is pretty fab !
then we got near the old sub base at Vis.. it was built during the cold war to protect yugoslovia.. lots of abandonded buildings..
\
darn.. a huge catermeran waspulled up inside there for the night..
max weighed anchor
gabe jumbed from the dinghy to shore..
\\
uhuh.. he got snagged on a huge spike of metal.. it was deep..
we got to shore.. cpulled it out and cleaned him up. and put on antibiotic. He didn’t even complain.. he was amazing..
max id the pulling and showed gabe the metal thing.. ouch !!
soemof gabes blood.. ughhhhh
gabe felt ok.. so we explored the sub garage..
inside there were rooms and tunnels.. for folks to get in and out. These were build back in the 60s and 70s.. and never used in warefare as far as we know
]\\\
we came out to a nice veiew of the moon and tomaz’s boat
]
then back in. to get to the other side
met this 3 inch spider
from there we clibed up to some old bunkers.
at tht poitn my batteries gave up.. but we ended up discovering the entrance to this amazing set of abandoneded tunnels in the hills.. they were hundered of meters long.. and came out t to at least 5 gun placements pil boxes.. I will get the pics from gabe and max tomorrow
from thee we walked back to the boat and cooked an amazing meal.. grilled meet fo rthe kids and tomas.. and greilled chese (alal Halumi) for diane and me.. so good !
now getting ready to sleep.. more from the boat tomorrow
