Monday night – Mr Howe

On a point of Blogging backlog/..earlier this week I heard that Gordy Howe had died. He was called ‘Mr Hockey’ by many folks.. All I remember calling him is Mr Howe..    I knew him because in the mid 70’s my dad worked for the Houston Aero’s.. a new team in the World HockyLeague..

Gordy and his family came to houston to play.. two of his sons Marty and Mark  played with him .. His daughter Cathy went to high school with me.  We’d see them at school, around town and at the games

It was pretty bizzare goign to watch hockey in Houston Texas.. most of us had never really seen ice before.. let alone hockey… or Canadians for that matter

. I’ve never been a sports guy.. but I really liked those games .. We’d go down to the Galleria which had an ice rink.. it was always nice in cool in there no matter how hot it was outside. Our freind Jerry Tropiano would call the games . We

d watch the playes slide back and forth.. but what we really loved was the fights.. and Mr Howe was an expert at that..

When I heard GOrdy of died.. My first reaction was to call my dad… but..  ….   it was a funny feeling

nite all, nite sam
