today our friends doug and marty closed their jewelry business.. fire and metal after 50 years in business. It was definitely bitter sweet.. these guys are a big part of our  romance.. I first met them on a valentines day .. diene and I each took  $10 and 30 min to find something for each other as a valentines gift. I ran into fire and meal and bought $10 of gold wire. I borrowed dougs pliers and made diane a heart shaped earring.. which she still has..;. When we got married in 1986, doug and marty made the rings. 

 

so strange to see all the fixtures nearly empty

there were soem greta memories of their 50 yers at work 

 

thier friend robert brought a really nice cake 

 

later on .. we picked up Max and becky at the airport. THey’re her for our friend JOsh’s wedding. We all took a drive over to masons…  the hills were covered with fall  light ..

fro there we went to alaln and heidis.. where we foudn gin and tonics !

 

we’d missed hteir big party. Alan turned 70, mason turned 30 and they had their 40th anniversary !

 

we took a quick walk out to thei rgreenhouse. 

 

and got to meet theire now legal winter crop 

 

we were all hungry .. so they all came over to our house for pesto 

 

nice full day.. very nice having max and becky here..

 

now time for sleep !/
