Fun day here in Cambridge… I woke up to snow outside… The cityscape look like it was in black-and-white
Went for a nice run…
got dressed in a red shirt and my blinking Santa hat and headed into work. On the way I passed a nursery school with a big picture window. I waved at the kids and before I knew it they were all plastered up against the side of the window waving and jumping up and down. To them I really was Santa. I waved and jumped around for a while with them all a kiss and then walked away… I got all the way to the end of the block and they were still staring. I would’ve taken a picture.. But I know folks don’t like to have pictures taken of their kids without permission. Anyway it was so cute
Mid day we had a nice recognition luncheon. It was fun having everybody in the same room
Around 530 I went and found my good friend John who is here visiting from Columbia. He had some experiments to do here for his PhD work. It was so great to see him. We walked down to my friend Hendrik’s to participate in his annual. Feuerzangebowle festivities. It’s a funny way to make mold wine. You have a big vat of mold wine and then you take this weird metal thing and put a cone of pure sugar that is doused in very high test run with you late. A lot of work… But it was fun and delicious
From there John and I walked back to his car… He had to drive back to New York tonight. It was so great catching up with him I’m so proud of how he is research is progressing. He such a wicked smart guy.
Came back to my room and started running some code on satori. It’s so fun to have that computer working. It’s really really fast
OK time for me to be fast (asleep)
