saturday night – Ides

it’s the ides of march.. the day made famous by Julius Caesar’s assasination.. While it was bad luck for him… the Ides of March (i’ve just read) was a celebration of Jupiter and several other less major deities that was “…  enthusiastically celebrated among the common people with picnics, drinking, and revelry. ”

I’m doing my part by drinking brandy in a Lufthansa lounge on my way to Warsaw poland.. .. I toast you Ceasar, Brutus, and all the other folks caught up on that fateful day in 44 BCE. .. I hope that you’ve worked out your Karmic issues over the years and are now fast friends..

 

I note that I’m traveling on a completely new and so far virginal passport .. No sign of the 60 or so countries I’ve visited in the last several years.. I’m a new man.. I think.. no history.. now thats refreshing..

well.. were boarding soon.. and i’m getting sleepy

Thursday night – talks beget talks

im discovering that Talks beget talks… like rabbits.. or bacteria.. or fission reactions. giving one talk. leads to invitation to two talks.. which leads to invitations to four talks which leads either to invitations to 8 talks.. or insanity… whichever comes first. i’m finding myself completely overwhelmed with really nice invitations from really nice people to really nice places. In the last 2 weeks I’ve been invited to (and I’m not making any of this up) Russia, poland, kazakstan, turkey, india, brazil, mexico, austria, czech republic, ireland, Dubai, kenya, hungary, india, portugal, australia , england, and switzerland

I want to say yes to them all.. but then i will go crazy… which means I need to say no to them all.. which means i will go crazy…

at least i know whatever happens… I will go crazy,

Wednesday night – road trip

Greetings from a Rent-A-Car on i 91 just south of Vermont border. My flight from Lagardia to Burlington was canceled this afternoon because the flight before couldn't land. We're expecting as much as 2 feet of snow. The good news is though Is that my friends Deb and Wendy Were on thatsame flight. We were able to get the last four-wheel-drive rental out of Avis and got on the road pretty quickly. It's about 7:25 and we're just about to enter the snow. If we make it tonight it'll be a long slow drive.… Or will stop somewhere along the way. We will see..

Fun day today though. I was an event in Yorktown to celebrate the international day of women. (March 8) . It was an extended panel discussion with 6 other folks… All of them women ! I was honored to be among them.. It was broadcast pretty widely and were able to interact with folks via twitter which was fun. We also had some folks present in short video clips. The hilight of the event for me was listening to my friend Romellia's daughter Christina talk about her i t ernship at ibm.. She's a senior in college and had such great insights.

There was another great birthday today.. Its the 25th aniversary of the internet ! Happy birthday Interweb..
