Friday night – tree

Greetings from Brooklyn. We left Vermont 2 o'clock to bring Max home. It's been great having both boys in the house. This morning we did a tradition, a little delayed, but we go out in the woods and decorate a tree or two with leftover bread, useeds etc. This time we want honey Hollow which was still covered in prism like diamonds of ice.

The dogs love it because they sometimes get a piece of a donut or two.

The trees this year were little worse for wear because of the ice . All of them were bent over with the extra weight.

Before we drove off, we took this picture with the shirts that I made for the boys and myself. There inspired by my friend Steve's tattoo. recognize them? They are the Atoms of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. Those are the most common elements in organic chemicals such as those that make us up. He also spell our name COHN, In truth their frequency is carbon hydrogen oxygen and nitrogen… But what's that spell anyway?

The drive down here was peaceful… One surprise though, we stopped for gas in Connecticut to find that we had a stowaway. A mouse was crawling around in our windshield wipers. As far as we know he made it all the way to Brooklyn with us. It must be some sort of day for mice, I'm sitting in Max's kitchen about 2 AM (we just finished organizing his basement after his move ) and I'm watching a huge mouse run around.. Just like hime

Ok.. Gotta sleep now.. More tommorrow

Thursday night – spätzle day

Great and slow day. Can't remember anything I did… Well… We did go out for cross-country ski with the dogs… It was fun watching Max's dog Io pull Diane around the field. We Did a little yoga, i did some work that I was late getting done. But the High Point was certainly dinner.

One thing I got Diane for the holiday was a spätzle maker. If you don't know spätzle it's a German/swish/Austrian noodle dish that takes running go and shreds it directly into boiling water. It's comfort food to teutonic style. Eggs milk flour , Butter and salt What's not to like?

It's just like my old landlady in vienna Frau Erol used to make… A little cheese, a little butter… Rapture !

Wednesday night – christmas day

We all slept in today. The boys didn't wake up until about 11 AM. They came down as they always Christmas, carrying one of the Sam lanterns

We could go time today and just Allstate in the same room… Didn't talk on the phone… Then go outside… Stayed off the computers and just Hung out together. It was really nice. Took a 30 minute break to grab some lunch… But other than that we just sat in the living room. By the time we finished all the Christmas stuff it was almost 5 PM. Really a remarkable day.

We almost didn't even make it outside today. Diane and I did Take the three dogs out for a walk.. (Max and Jac's dog Io is up visiting too) It never made it above 6 degrees today..so the dogs were happy to make it a short walk.

Max cooked dinner for us. It was a feast: chicken fried tofu, collard greens, and the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. It is definitely hippie comfort food.

Afterwards cleaned up a little (very little) and played a new game. It's called Dixit… And it's a hoot.

We finished off our health food kick with homemade funnel cake. We never made it but we improvised and it came out great.

Sitting here at the end of the day… I am grateful for my family and the love I have in my life. I hope it is there for you as well.
