Very satisfying day. I took the day off to catch up on some much needed work around the house. It takes alot to get this old place ready for winter. It was snowing this morning as if to remind us that winter was coming .mDiane and i spent 5 hours cleaning out the garage getting ready to put the cars in. I forgot to take before and after pics.. But imagine 3 full garbage cans of scrap wood, scrap steel and junk thrown out. And . I found enough welding steel to build a small car..
Then came the job of carting some of the stuff up to the attic.. 3 floors up.. Up went the inner tubes, up went the canoeing stuff.. And for the forst time… Up went the bikes… It felt strange carrying sams bike up to the attick… Its never been up there… It probably will always be now.
Arond 4 my friends john and jarred came over . It was time to do final testing on a long overdue project that john , homer and i had built for jarred and friends. It felt very good showing the big thing working….and seing it go out the door… Im eager to see it get used.. and Im not going to miss having it here..
On the other hand , John is leaving for boston and a new job… Im really going to miss him…
Normal day full of meetings. During a 2 minute gap between meeting, Diane jumped in and asked me to come downstairs for a surprise. When i came down, our friend Julietta was there With some kids id never met. She said hi john then julietta number 2 (the real julietta) stepped out of the mud room. There were two juliettas !
Meet julietta's twin sister Zora… I never knew she had a sister.let alone an identical twin.. I asked her how long shed known she had a twin 🙂
Seriously, zora looked more like julietta than julietta !
Aother drop in treat happened this evening when my cousins son John dropped by. Johns working in main and was in VT to visit hos cousin emma at middlebury.. And us too, i guess. It was so much fun hanging out with him.. He was full of stories
I, however, am out of stories for the moment… Ill cook up some more tomorrow
Another insanely busy day… I'm going to take Friday off just to recharge with family. One great feature of today was a short talk i gave to a group of folks at the museum in Barre on the Maker movement. The room was packed with 60 to 80 year olds. My talk was part of the osher series .. A nationwide adult learning movment funded by the legacy of Bernard Osher. This was one of the best audiences ive had in a long tike.. Hey were engaged, lots of ideas and lots of questions. It was such a hoot !
Simce i was in barre i took a few minutes to go over and visit my firend and old admin Jleigh. She was doing great.. I followed her and her day care kids on a short walk so we could catch up.. Shes so awesome..,i loved seeing her. Shes been in chemo for the last couple of months, but still manages a day care and keeps rescue pugs. Shes one energetic woman !
Got home and worked with Froend john to finsh up a long standing project.. While we were working i learned that our good firmed Scott amd GF Kim gave birth to their first son.. Welcome Gabriel !
Oy.. was I cranky today.. I have the tail end of a cold, some residual jet lag and just a ton of work to do.. It took me until I realize I was being grouchy at my third friend on a work call today to realize it wasn’t them.. it was me. .. IÂ really don’ t like to be that way.. I actually took soem time out of the middle of my day and backtracked and apologized to those folks.. but that really doesn’t fix it..
I did get up mid afterrnoon and take a run which helped.. then I did yoga with diane tonight which really helped…
now it’s midnight again and I’m still working.. I need a few days break I think…
