50 degrees and sunny.. Thats what it was today a we sat watching gabe play four lacrosse scrimage games at burlington high school. It just. Felt so good soaking in all that vitamin D.
It was great seeing how folks dressed for the unexpectedly warm and sunny weather.. I saw people out in shorts and others in down coats.. Most folks were somewhere in between. There's a funny hysteresis that occurs. This time of year. Temperatures that would have people reaching for their fleeces in October or November call for shorts and T-shirts in april .. Our blood has been chilling all winter, so even they tiniest glimmer of heat has us shedding layers
Just back from a lovely Seder at our friend Beth and Scott. The bonus was that our friends from New York Peter and Beth were also in town. I didn't realize until I just got home but I think of the whole room full of people only Peter and i were actually Jewish. The rest were Unitarians. I guess Unitarians are so inclusive that they will party with anyone.
It was great conversation, great food and just generally a great vibe.
The kids actually acted out the 10 plaques.. They inlued Lice, boils, blood an all that..
I follow #thetweeofgod .. He's named 10 new plagues for 2013

Very busy right now.. But making time to follow the supreme court debate peels away the onion on same sex unions an California's prop 8. I have several friends for whom this is personal. Its their marriages that are being debated .. I understand their outrage that someone else would have a vote on whom you choose to spend your life with.
One of the things i learned today was that Edi Windsor, the woman at the center of the supreme court case, was an IBMEr. She had to pay a huge estate tax when her spouse Thea died. that tax would have been 0 had her partner been a man. Its a tough story, but i cant think of a better legacy for Thea in making the right to marry a law.
