Sunday afternoon – i seem to be a page

Those reading this post probably know that I ran into a snag with Facebook on Thursday. I it 5000 Facebook friends .. and that’s the limit a private person can have on their profile. They’ve suggested that i  move my profile to a ‘Page’ like a company has.. As I mentioned a couple of days ago you have to tell them what kind of entity you are (animal, vegetable, mineral).. but none match my image of myself. One good suggestion came from my friend Dave.. he suggested I go for ‘teacher’ .. I used that because that’s what I one day aspire to be.

I spent the afternoon trying to make this conversion work.. it seems your profile pic is the only thing that is preserved in the conversion. You have to re-upload all your pictures and videos.. All comments and stuff go away (though I have them backed up).. and all your old friends get turned into ‘likes’ .. I’m really worried that I’m going to get lost in the process and folks won’t be able to find me anymore.. but still this is better than ‘unfriending’  people, I think. I started to go through to see if I could remove some folks from the list.. and couldn’t bring myself to do it.  My connections are so important to me..

We’ll see how this goes.. it may take me a few days to get my blog postings back on facebook,. etc. In the mean time, please let me know if you’re seeing the new Facebook page.. it’s here http://www.facebook.com/johncohnvt in case you cant find it.

Saturday night – climb

Had a good outside day.. which is what I needed. I’m very tied up in my work right now and needed soem time not to think about it.. I didn’t stop thinking about it, but at least I was outside in the fresh air while I did it..

 

The day began with a shortstop (lol) at Rob and Lisa’s to watch gabe play in a wiffle ball tournament.. I don’t know if the kid has ever picked up a baseball.. but he played well. It was great to see the setup that Rob had put together.. there were teams there from all over.. i think the the event lasted a day.. we left after the first game because we were on a mission.. .. we had to do soem scoping for our upcoming camping trip.

on the way to thour hike, we stopped by to say hi to chris and kim.. chris showed us hi s latest, a baby sub.. awwwww isn’t it cute ?

Chris also showed us a irdpath that Gab made out of a rock the other day.. very cool

We went home, changed shoes then drove to stowe. Next week we’re goign to hike from Stowe all the way home, we needed to check out how to get to the long trail from the top of the gondola.. we hiked up.. (loosing my glasses ion the way).. the top of the gondola was packed with summer tourists. kind of funny to see after our quet and stepp hike up the mountain.

hen a short but (to me) very scary) scramble around the cliffs we made it to the long trail this time Thursday we’ll be up there somewhere.. again.

We got back hoem around 6 after a careful walf down the mountain looking for my glassses.. no joy there.. but.. it was a greathie overall..

 

we came hoe and diane cooked pizza on the grill  .. the pizza was great, but the cooking stone dodnt survive the ordeal.

Sam had been on our mind all day.. seeing all the kids playing wiffleball, many of them friends of Sam.. had brought him very very close.. I was appy to see a magazine for him in the mail his evening.. things like that make me somehow happy.

ok.. dian and I are both beat.. off to bed now.. more tomorrow..

Friday night – Fictional character

crickets…. There's everywhere right now.. When it's quiet out, all you here is crickets.l I log e that sound, I love this time of year.. I can small fall…

Last night I noted that I had just hit 5000 facebook friends. His morning I made the unpleasant discovery that that's all the friends that facebook thinks a person should have.. They've cut me off.. I can't accept any new friend requests until I either unfriend people.. Which I'm just not going to do.. I wrote to them about this and (of course) have not heard anything back.. But I did discover a loophole.. In a bizzarro antipod to 'citizens uinited' the horrible supreme court ruling that declares that corporations are people .. I am going to declare myself a corporation. Seems that on facebook, a corporation can keep adding friends., or at least friends can keep adding it ,..

If I don't fancy becoming a corporation I can choose to be a brand, a business, entertainment , a cause or a 'artist, band or figure' . Honestly, I don't think I fit any of these descriptions.. I'm certainly not a business.. And while I like to be entertaining.. Hats not gonna fit either.. Public figure is a weird label. I'm not a public figure.thiguh I think I'm a pretty nice guy.. What's weird as you need to identify what sort of public figure you are if you use that label.l the choices are odd… They include

Actor/director, artist , athlete , author, business person, chef , coach , comedian, dancer, doctor, editor, entertainer , fictional character, government official, journalist,lawyer, monarch, musician/band, news personality, politician. Producer, public figure, teacher or writer… Note: no engineer, no scientist !

What's up with that ?

I guess I'm going for ficitional character.. Tats how i feel some days.. Let's see how that works..

Thursday night – friends

Nearly midnight.. Just getting back from a mad science show at the governors institute at uvm. A great group of high school kids this year.. Prod to be geeks.. I loved it. Long day today,. Sent my laptop in for rebuilding spent most of the day without a computer.. Talk about cold turkey ! I was lmost out of touch with the world. All I had to rely on was m iPhone and iPad.. LOL.
One thing that I did happen to catch on iPad today was that I just crossed the 5000 mark on facebook friends… (and I love them all 🙂 not sure how that happened… Or what it means. B it it is what it is..
