Friday night – Jay Peak day 2

Diane and I were up at Jay Peak today for a AI panel I was running for the mVT Association of Hospital and Health Services. The panelist were great !  I thought the panel went pretty well.. .a little long though.  I really enjoyed meetign all of these healthcare folks > I was very impressed with the level of sophistication of their current AI deployments and even more so for their visions for the future.

After the panel, we said goodbye to everone from VAHHS.. then drove aroudn the mountain to do a beautiful climb up Jay Peak. THe weather was beautiful and the fall colors were already starting. In addition to great views of Vermont, We could see canada, New Hampshire  and New York.. .. It was a great hike !

We got him e late afternoon.. ..

nice quick trip north !

Wednesday night – Tesla Parts

My friends Kasey and Ross and I have decided to build a  vacuum tube Tesla coil. It’s Kaseys idea.  Vacuum tubes were the first amplifying electronics device.. Vacuum tubes  were invented back in 1904 by british physicist. John Ambrose Fleming.

Vacuum tubse  were used up  until  the 1970’s for all but exotic radio transmitters  (and microwave ovens now that I think of it) .. They’re coming back in to vogue for high end audio equipment. Some peopke think they give audio a warmer sound.  dunno..

but building a vacuum tube tesla coil is a fun retro way to build a high voltage toy.  Here’s what we’re planning to build.. Its from an article a 12 year old kid wrote back in 2012 !

We’ve started to order parts. I’ve collected these so far.

My friend Scott would have loved this project..

Whatch these pages for progress !
