Sunday night – Hiking Heigenbrucken

quick shout to my babay sister on her birtday.. I love you SPG !

we took advantage of having a car to go about an hour away to an a small town called Heigenbruken.. Its biggest attraction is an old abandoned rail station.. it also has soem beautiful hiking trails..

we hiked part of the Spessart traill. whcih has been I use for more than 100 years. there was a memorial to all the hikers who died in various wars.. kinda weird to think very much about that..

Chatgpt led us on a bit of a goose chase.. it made up a lookout tower that didnt really exist.. but that was ok..

we did find a very spooky abandoned hotel that was right out of Scooby doo.. ,. and kinda explored it until an autmated alarm scared us off.

really nice to explore the countryside !

Lots (mabey 100 ? ) of people there drinkign local wine from this year, eating various parts of animals.. and making flamekuchne (kind of a local type of Pizza).. there were fire barrells everywhere that kept us all warm.. then hiked back in the dark.. so very fun !!!

Wednesday night – Willkommen in Deutschland !

I woke up about 30 minutes before landing in Frankfurt. I love when that happens. THe fligh over was easy.. .. and we were gettign in at a decent time.. like 11:45 in the morning !. It was nice seeign the ended fields of germany from above. Alles in ordenung !

When we landed , our first theoughts were about fuinding Nova.. I hope she had a good flight. I wander if she was scaerd ? sleepy ?
we had seen on the internet that it could take up to 2 hours before we might see here. I found her tracker….

as it trunes out,she was thererwaitign for us in her crate when we got to the baggage claim. She was sititng there queitly.. and was SOOOO hapy to see us.. !

Gabe had rented a minivan to coem pick us up.. and he was only about 20 minutes behind us.. Nova was even more happy to see him !!!!!

we climbed in the van and had a nice one hour-ish ride to Gerbrunn where Gabe loives.. It was a beutiful day. It was DIanw’s (and Nova’s) first time seeign weehre Gabe lives..

We could also see where we live.. and it was (again) covered in snow !

Gabe gave us all a tour of hsi Apertment and his neighborhood. It’s such a buetiful place.. and such a great location.. Its abotu a 5 min bike ride, 12 min walk to his work.. and its about 40 seconds away from beutiful rolling famrland that he and nova can run around on

Our challenge was to stay awake late enoguh to sleep through jet lag.. so we all got in the can and headed to down town Würzburg which is abotu 15 minuts drive away. We wnt through the Residenz’s gardens. THe residenz is an 18th centruy palace for the Prince Bishop.. THe grounds are amazing.. and it’s full spring here.. A nice break from snow

we walked aroudn downtown.. includign the bridge where folks gather for local wine every night !

gabe is gettign used to the food.. he likes  it.. lots of meant.. Here’a. aign tht says it like it is “Meat  is my vegatables !”

lots of interesting public art in this town .. and beutiful sunsets !

then home.. to sleep (and perchance to dream !)
