I’d been looking forward to this day. This evening the 7 core members of the team that built Fluffy for burning man this year met up at Hula for a fascillitated debreif.. It’s been a good 3 months since the playa.. and about 8 months since we began the project. Coco had arrainged for her friend Pete..a. psychotherapist and social worker to facilitate. It was a great session. it was aimed at figuring out what went well.. what could have gone better and what we were going to do going forward. The cool thing is that despite a ton of struggles and setbacks.. we were all still good friends.. we used the time mostly to plan our approach to next year. The conversations were deep, personal.. and constructive. so I don’t feel its right to share them.. but It was fun to see the differnt types of minds and spirits working…
Quick huke up duxbury window to wake up .. then back to work This week included getting settled in to a new work space at Beta. Over the last couple of weeks our small studyhall team has moved our operations to one of the satellite building D2. We share a space now with he good folks in subscale and industrial design. Much easier to work over there.. though it does feel a little like the Galapagos islands.. a bit cut off from what else is happening in the rest of the Beta world. The people over there make it special though.. jake, evan carson, henry, alex, luke.. such great folks !
Thanks D2 for making us feel welcome ! nite all, nite sam
Busy day back at work.. nice end to it. I went to our friend and financial advisor Ric’s Christmas party. Ric has been such a great help over the years helping us plan for the future.. We’d been in much worse hsape if i hadn’t wandered into the pizza event he sponsored at ibm back in 1982.Saw Many friends there including friend John H. Nice touch is that they even had NA Beer !
Then home for more sorting through old IBM stuff.. came across my first patent .. and a few other favorites in the stacks
We woke up and said our goodbyes to Vincent, Trish and Gabe..and Victor and Pina and headed back to Vermont.> Again.. we had this great historical account of the Galveston 1900 hurricane to keep us engaged as we drove back so the drive passed quickly. We were hoem before we knew it !
We got home, changed clothes and drove in to Burlington to meet our Burning man friends. Our bus Fluffy was back in vermont after a 3 month oddessy of repairs out in Reno. The bus broke down on the way out.. and .. unfortunately out on the desert.. it’s been in for repair ever since. It finally got working last week Our leader Duane flew out and drove the bus and trailer cross country by himself .. !!! We met p for bagels at hula.. then wen t and unpacked the trailer and bus to find all the tools and stuff we’d been missing for these last 3 months. It was fun and sort of triggering to get into all that dust. !..
Its gonna take more than one night to ‘unpack’ all that we’ve been through together on this bus project.. more on that later this week ! nite all, nite sam
