Today was day 1 of the FOE conference. my dear friend Ruchir gave openign comments from IBM as the sponosrand my friend Tsu_Jae  gave welcoem from the NAE. Thsi si a conference that brings together young promising researchers from academia and industry. We will hear talks of 4 topics: brain computer interfaces, quantum computing, fusion and electric flight.. all topics I love .. and i’d love to learn more on. 

In addition to great talks.. we had lots of time to network with the other attendees. 

It was a wonderful and illuminating day !

ps. occaisionally computers and software misbehav ein fun ways.. for soem reason this picrtuer popped up in pics from troday I my laptops library.. I’m judging by hair color and the state of that shirt (which I still have ) that this was at a Phish show  in the mid tewens..

I took gabe to the airport this morning.. he’s a busy guy.. trying to finish two papers.. he’s glad he made it here for friend Jacks wedding. 

Later in the day I flew to Philly for the start of the NAE Frontiers of engineering conference. I was there representing both IBM and the NAE.. I’m supwer excited about the oppertunity to attend !

Diane and I took Gabe over to the wedding in Diane and I took a great hike up the catamount trail this morning.. enjoyign the waterfalls

in the afternoon, diane and I drove Gabe to his wedding over in Waitsfeild. The best way to do that is over the App Gap…. 

Got to see soem of our  friends before  the wedding. Tucker and Hailey were here.. we usually see them in portland !

since we were near the gap, we took a a great hike up Mt Ellen to the top of Mad river ski area 

It was a beutiful day for this hike !.. short and steep !
