The Basement guys are doing a great and quick job. We found out that the main beam support was going to be a considerably bigger deal.. but a lot rides on fixing that beam.. aka the whole house !
I did get a few cool pictures of the old circuit posters that were used between the floor boards and floor joists. None are intact.. but still so cool to see. These might be from the 1860’s .. or maybe more recent ? ..
Today was the big day for our basement. We’ve hired a company called Norther Basement Systems to do a compile makeover on our basement. we went with them because of their Moto which is “All things Basmenety” ..Main taks are to remove the old wet and rotting insulation, shore up one of the houses sagging main beams (gulp !), replace the old and rusting jacks that the whole hose rests on .. put new and better plastic moisture barriers and install a better dehumidifier. ..
One last look at the old stuff
Looking forward to a new and less stinky basement ! nite all, nite sam
We had a little time this morning before travel.. so we took a walk up Soth Congress (aka SoCo) to see my old favorite bar.. the continental club.
Back in the day SoCo had a bunch of thrift stores, antique stores and artist lairs.. Sometime in the late 90’s it got a complete makeover.. it’s now full of designer stores whose brands I recognize.. but products I don’t.. (what does Benetton sell anyway).. We had a great breakfast at the same place we ate yesterday with Karmanyaah.. and had the same great Acaii bowl.. Yum..
It also has a ton of fun and funny kitsch shops and boutique hotels and restaurants.. It’s still managed to keep some of its funk even. with the makeover .We did some fun wood shopping.
then it was off to the airport for an uneventful flight home.. it had been a great visit !
Only surprise when we got home is that Dianes huge Aloevera plant had taken a nosedive off its perch.. What. mess !
