Sunday night – bluebird day

I swore to not work today.. and it almost worked. I spent a good number of hours trying to figure out a ‘mailbox full’ bprblem.. but other than that.. tried not to think about work. The 8PM call I had tonight was even canceled.. !

I did manage to get outside in the near perfect weather a couple of times. It was in the mid 30’s  and clear blue skies.. we don’t get this pretty of weather often.. so it seems like everyone was outside.. it was hard to go back indoors.

I took a picture of the sky to show that there was nary a cloud.. just infinite blue.. wherever you looked

.,,

look at that.. its’ just so perfect. I’m glad that I live under that kinda sky

nite all . nite sam

ps. here’s the view from across the street..we’re blessed to live in such a pretty place.. I’ll feel a little more blessed when the snow finally decided to give up 🙂

Saturday night – Happy birthday Generator

Fantastic day at Generator today as we celebrated our 1 year anniversary !..

It started at 8:30 when I helped my good buddy Karen teach about 11 women how to program arduino light up headbands. It was so much fun working with these folks.. they are good makers. At the beginning nine had ever touched a micro controller or soldered.. By the end, all had working headbands and running code @

Around 4, things started up for the parts, here are 300 cupcakes arraanged in our logo.. A labor of love

THer was food and drink everywhere !

i was lit up for the event.. so got lots of selfies.. here are a very few.. including this one , with jules, my ice cream helper

\

we made about 5 gallons of ice cream with liquid nitrogen.. it was a crownd pleaser.. ..

Ran into so many friends.. including my old friend megan and her boyfriend.

there were speeches from all sorts of folks including board members, M and Champlain folks, city folks including Mayor Miro

All in all we had 500 folks by about 3/4 through.. I’m going to guess our total was about 600 ..

\\

by 8 PM things were winding down and we were there to clean up the mess.. Believe it or not, I had an important work call tonight.. so I listened while I hosed chocolate ice cream goo off of everything I owned

at the end of the night friend matt custom made me a shirt !

as I shuffled my stuff off to the car I looked up and saw venus..  what a pretty universe we have.. no ?

They were all wearing there ‘reading is a science’  Einstein shirts .. and they even gave me one !!!

Wednesday night – no longer onboard

Tonight was my last ECHO board meeting after 6 years of serving. It’s been an honor to be on ECHO’s board. I’ve learned tons and made a bunch of new friends all passionate about science education. I’ve learned about what it takes to run a large org like that.. budgets, staffing, and of course the science outreach and lake stewardship that is our mission.

We had a good meeting tonight, then a short ceremony to welcome the new board members and thank those of us stepping down.. definitely bitter sweet. I’ll miss these folks, but plan on staying involved in the science projects that spin out of there.. Next focus is on the google grant we got for the lights. That should be fun..

Thanks ECHO ! Best of luck tot eh board going forward !

nite all, nite sam !
