Sunday night – MIT Picnic

Today was really nice.. .. a mix of doing nothing.. and being busy.. Max was around in the afternoon which was great. he heads back to B’klyn tomorrow.

gabe was out camping on burton island

Diane , the dogs and I started the day with a run around Preston pond.. We love running in the woods..but the bugs were fierce,,

Midday we headed to Little River reservoir for the annual VOMIT (Vermont’s Own MIT) club picnic. It was a lovely, geeky (like me) crowd….

Once again, our leader Michelle had gotten all of the MIT regalia to make us official.. baloons, cups, napkins.. even angry beaver temporary tattoo’s

we reinacted our famous human mit sign.. though this time we did it lying down.. not bad !

really nice seeing everyone..

later at home, Matthew and his mom came by again with their GoPro toting drone to get soem flyovers of the house. . it was   very , very cool…

Matthew kindly gave us the video he shot. We need to edit it down.. but we’ll post a snippet here tomorrow.

I cant wait to see Matthew’s whole piece on Cochran road. He’s a great kid !

yikes .. its’ 1:30 am..how’d that happen ?!

gotta sleep now

more tomorrow with those amazing drone vids !

Saturday night – Good neigbors make good fences

Robert Frost once famously said… “good fences make good neighbors’…  the reverse is also true, i hope. Today i got to help George repair his horse fences.. George is always the first one here to help us when we need an extra hand..cutting up trees, etc. s it was nice to be able to return some of the favor.

Diane was helping over there in the garden…she even walked her Jasmine plant over to  It’s all in prep for Jillian’s wedding next week !  Getting exciting..

more on that as the week progresses.

for notw…

Friday night – family sushi

I have to admit .. I was feeling a bit jet  lagged today.. probably because I stayed up till 2:30 this morning talking to Max..   I was very glad with late afternoon rolled around and I could call it a day. My last obligation for the day was when Matt and his mom visited to do some filming. Matt is a soon-to-be 9th grader who is doing a film project on Cochran road. So far he’s interviewed 19 residents of our road for stories about the past.. He did a good job asking questions.

I scanned some pictures of the area for him to take.. so I figure I aught to share them here.   Here’s the old Jonesville store.

here’s our neigborhood after the ’27 flood

here’s what it looked like before the flood

Here’s what the sawmill across the street looked like nearly 100 years ago

nad here’s a clever artists rendition of ‘Richmond in the future’.. note the subway to Jonesville 🙂 .. Funny thing is, we found this card at a flea market in Pennsylvania !

After Matt left, we all piled in the car for family sushi.. It was nice having the four of us in the car.. it was liek when they were babies.. not babies anymore !..we ate our weight in sushi !

Beautiful sunset on the way home, too .

then some upsidedowness to help settle that sushi..

I love my family very much ..
