Monday night – Secret ingrediants

After work today we had a Fluffy conclave at our hosue. TH e idea was to review what had gone well and what needed work at fluffy’s 4th time out to the dessert. In prep for the dinner, diane made soem of her special chile.  I asked folks to try to guess the ingredients.. there were 1 or 2 folks who identified one of the special ingrediants.. but here is the anser .. all in this picture

we had a great time talkign abotu the burn .. and our plans for the next year.. basically we’re goign to do a few events (new years, 4th of july) .. then evaluate in August whenter Fluffy actually stays in reno after next years burn.. or comes back here to vt.

Andrew and his wife were in town., so was Tater. . so they were a great addition

great conversation.. really like  these folks !

Sunday night – cleaning fluffy

Diane is doing some final gleaning from the garden including something like 50 acorn squash.. including this one that grew through the fence

mid mornign we headed to charlotte to finally clean fluffy ofrom her last trip to the ddesert.. It was a great team effort. there was hundereds of pounds of playa dust lurking in every nook and cranny. We figured out a way to use vacuum cleaners and exhast them over the sides.. very satisfying !

by the time we were done , you could eat off of fluffys floors..

but I wouldn’t advise it 🙂

Saturday night – Francis

We got very sad news this morning. We learned that our good friend and neighbor Francis Churchill had a massive stroke whie he was running this morning.. and is not goign to survice.

Francis has been such a great friend to us and everyone in our town, he brught us fresh muffins  several times after sam died. He’s always there  to help neighbors.. cut down fallen trees, land trust stuff.
Francis worked at UVM as the environmental health guy and both Gabe and I interacted  with him at UVM over the years.
He is actually the guy who built the trail that we all run on. many days a week. .. that trail is where he had his last run.

We cant believe this has happened. ,. we will always think of him..   He’ll always be on that trail for me.
