Friday night – new side gig

I’m super excited because I’ve picked up a new side gig at BETA. I can’t go into it here.. but I’m really enjoying helping out with a different project. It’s really fun working with new people and new tech  (I still love the old people and old tech  too) .

I wish I could share more pics about what we’re doing.. Maybe someday.. lets just say it’s very interesting and exciting  !

Thursday night – new chip !

If you know me well, you know that I get really excited about technology. Every once in a while I stumble across something really new that blows my mind..   Today my freind Shannon introduced me t o a new microcontroller family. It’s called a QTPy (as in cutie pie). It was developed in SEEED lab in China.. , a great innovator in hobby electronics.. and improved upon by Adafruit Labs.. the best hobbyist electronics company in the entire universe (as far as I know :-).

The QTPy family with tons of functions packed  into a tiny format. You can get an ESP32 wireless version , an RP2040 one, a SAMD21 version…. depending on what you want to do. They also have this really cute QWIIC connector for connecting I2C peripherals. It s a perfect platform for building blinky things !.

Thanks to shannon for introducing me to my new best chip friend !

Tuesday night – Halloween !

Today was our first hard frost.. It took out many of hte remaining flowers in the yard.. but it was time..

Today was Halloween..  When the kids were around,  it was always one of the most important days in our  calendar… costumes to make, parties to organize. The parties at our house were epic..   for many years we had huge parties at the house.. 200-300 people, music, costumes.. They were so much fun.. and so much work to prep and clean up from.
I  kinda miss the parties.. but don’t miss the hassle. 🙂

I came hoe from work early to get ready for trick or treating.. no one ever comes to our house.. so we dress up and go check out Richmond. Its a nice tradition. We headed downtown with only one mission.. to get some of Gretchen and Marshalls home made doughnuts..a tradition for .. what ? 20 years ? 30 Years ?

It was great seeing all the young family and kids out trick or treating.. It’s strange now not knowing most of them.

Our freinds may be blurry.. but they are still fun !

We got home to find we’d had a haunting.. I think this is the 8th mouse we’ve escorted out of the house in the last week..

SOem things never change !
