Tuesday night – Chris and Jean

Tonight we had visitors. My old freind Chris and his wife Jean are visiting the US frm the UK. Chris is a former IBM fellow like me.. and has been one of my friends and mentors for many year.s It was really wonderful catching up with Chris and getting to know Jean.  We got to see some wonderful pictures of the farm(?) where they live in Dorset.. such beautiful country . hris and I had fun exchanging IBM stories and traded what we knew about he whereabouts of our many mutual friends.

Jean is a great story teller too. Got to see nice pics of grandkids, horse , dogs, and the lovely Dorset countryside.

Also learned a new. word from them  “quango” which is
a semipublic administrative body outside the civil service but receiving financial support from the government, which makes senior appointments to it.

It was really interesting to hear Chris and Jeans path in Retirement.. Gave me lots to think about !

love seeing old friends !

Saturday night – Whaleaide

The leaves are still changing. DIane and I did the 6mile  catamount/ honey hollow loop this morning

I always love seeing the Wooten’s place in the fall. THis is the first year since Ken passed. We were thinking of him as we walked by.

We headed back home and worked around the house until the evening. We headed out early with an intent to see our friends paul webb and paul gittlesohn .. and maybe our mutual freind Vlad play an end of season piano session at shelburne farms. pauls been playing there for more than 30 years !  But.. on our way there I saw an email from paul g saying it was next week instead.   So we headed straight to higher ground.. had a quik and delicious fish and chips =dinner and headed in to the whale aide show at higher ground. (wow. HG twice in a week.. its been a long time since that happened ! )

First up was Ryan.. he played some ne w Guster stuff which I really liked. He said he isnt used to playing solo..though he sounded great !

He brought a strong quartet to play a couple of songs with him .. sounded great !

Next up was Chad O from Dispatch/State Raio. He was fantastic.. he gets so much music out of just one voice and guitar !

At the end Chad invited Ryan up to ply nd they did a couple of songs. It was so great they were having so much fun !

We hung around a little more to hear the show mainliner whcih was steve marley (one of bob marleys son. .. He was great.. but we were beat.. so headed home early

NIce nite !
