The general thing these weeks is eating everything we can from the garden. Today Diane went crazy making wonderful salads from all the tomatoes cucumbers greens from the garden. Deb came down for dinner and brought shrimp. Delicious fresh meal.
It turns out that the Fluffyites have found a makers space in Reno where they’re going to assemble the bus . nterestingly, it’s also called “the generator” like our own maker space. The maker space is well configured for assembling an art car. It looks like it’s design for it with high ceilings and big doors… I
Assembling Fluffy in Reno 90 mile drive from Reno with clouds on… That means no more than 25 miles an hour. But I’ll bet it beats putting the thing together in the blazing sun on the desert.
As summer winds down, we try to bring it as much stuff from the garden as we can. These are some of the last red right tomatoes we’re going to get. We’ve been eating tomato sandwiches once or twice a day while we can. Pretty soon, it will be frost and snow… It’s nice to have this little taste of sunshine.
Looks like fluffy has made it to Nevada!… Tomorrow they’re going to start putting her together.
TOday we still smell the smoke from the Canadian fires.. It’s still making the sunrises and sunsets strangely beautiful.
Fall is definitely coming… Diane continues to bring in the bounty from the garden before the frost gets here
We had two sets of visitors today… One unexpect expected and one expected. The unexpected visitor was Dr. Michael Sax…. And his girlfriend (Diane?)… I bought the house from Michael in 1982. At that point he was a medical student at UVM… He went to medical school after many years is being a carpenter in Central Vermont. He went into emergency medicine. His wife of many years died about three years ago.
It was fun showing them around the house. He gave us some stories about the sequencing of the changes that he made. I think he enjoyed seeing what we have done over the last 42 years. We had met briefly many years ago…It was nice to reconnect.
The expected visitors was my good friend Jeff from IBM research and his wonderful wife leslie. Jeff and I have worked together for more than 20 years. In addition to being brilliant and nice.. He’s one of the most rational people I have ever met. It was really nice having them here at the house.
Puzzling here why the pictures I took of yesterdays sunset are appearing for today.. but that aside.. Look at what the sunset looked like. It’s due to the fires in Canada. Strange that a disaster far away can create strange beauty here / Note these are not retouched.. it looked just like this !
This morning, diane and I took a quick hike up to the Duxbury notch. The air still smelled smokey .. it was one of those days that went from clammy to muggy back and forth as we hiked.
Very busy day at wrk as we prep for big meetings this week. I did get time to give my freind Dov and his family a very quick tour of Beta. Dov is a good freind of my friend Shmul’s.. we last hung out on a very good day in 2016 that included a Phil Lesh show in Vegas. He has a lovely orange family !
Later this evening we went to our neighbor Franks 60th birthday.. it was good to see so many freinds from the neighborhood. The settign sun on the way over qwas dramatic again.. but not as cool as yesterday.
