Busy day at work.. After dinner we took a walk down to begins hole.. On the way there we ran in to our friend Phil and his GF on the road,. We hadn’t seen Phil in a bout a year.. and lots ha happened in his life since then. we spent some time catching up

Began the day with a 7-ish mile hike up the catamount trail and down Honey Hollow. Honey Hollow road was marked as closed.. we saw clearly why.. the road is washed out in sooo many places. !

As always, we took a nice long look at the Wootons place.. it’s clearly cut off from cars now

Later that afternoon, our former neighbor’s Sammy  and her family and her mom and our long time friend Barb came over  for a short small science party..   Sammy and her  Husband Soli have 4 kids .. the older ones are super into science. 

We did Elephant toothpaste and smoke rings again.. Good fun

Later that evening we took another walk to survey the damage..

Damage its profound.. still beautiful though..

Had a fun day of seeing old friends from different parts of life. >> I was hoping for shoes who I ran into our old friend Kristin.. with our new baby friend Scout. It was great catching up with her

Later in the day we had a really nice get together with an eclectic gathering of friends in Montpellier. Our hosts were Dave and Pam , friends of mine from MIT. Our old friend and fellow richmondite Gary carpooled with us.. He and Dave went to the same summer camp in NY state for many years.. and their kids all still go to that camp. . Also invited were my Vase buddy Steve and his wife, She and Dave are both professors of “history of science” and have been colleagues for decades. TO make it even more interesting, the final guest was my host at a talk I did n Barre back in 2013 .

Ps. Does anyone else have this problem?… I found I have a bunch of fancy razor handles and a bunch of her fancy razor heads but none of them match. I think this is an intentional scam that the companies run to make people continue to buy very expensive blades.… We need a name for th shaver handled dysphoria?

Beautiful morning !

After work, DIane and I drove to the Charlotte beach for the send off of the Borreal express.. The Boreal Express which is the bbrainchile of my freind Zach and his wonderful team at http://hackclub.org , will take 55 yhigh school age students from across the world on a private trainride from Vancouver to Montreal. During the trip, these teenage hackers will create amazing stuff in software, hardware and 3d mfg. 

Tonight was the send off.. It was a beautifully cool and windy night down by the lake.. We actually had to wear sweatshirts.

Zach and hackclub staff member Christina gave  a great welcome to teh group.. My friend Woody a flipped burgers and the crew got to know each other.

We all went down to the lake to watch the sunset

. It was an inspiring send-off !
