Funny picutre.. DIane and I are trying to track down soem Bats in our belfry.. we have a big colony of bats living up tehre again.. so we put out  one of our game cameras// so far this is the only creature it caught .. me !

Wheres the best place to go when its too hot to stay in Vermont ? Head to Houston !. Diane and I are takign a short vacation visiitg Billy, Shawn and their kids donw in Houstan and Galveston. Billy and I have a meeting next week,. so we deciced to have soem fun too.. >> We got there about 10PM and met up with shawn in the Heights. Billy was playing with his bad the Texas Turbines at a club.. he was playing Bass in this band.. he sounded grea.t .. supwer fun to sit outside in the heat and watch great orgginal music. 

Lookign forward to this weekend i.. we’re ll headign to Galveston to Shaun and Billys hous tehre. .. At tleast we’ll have a sea breeze.. I hope !

THis mornign I went to UV to meet with my freind Doug who does high energy gas spectroscopy.. I’m workign on soemthign that might be related at work. It was great seeign his setup again.. he looks at 10 degree gasses and tries to figure out whats in them.. not too unlike soem of the stuff I liek doing 

After hours we had a treat.. tmy freind Rachel braught he Hackclub interns and gap years  to Beta for a tour.. I’ve been workign with many of these students and they are so amazing.. smart and fun. it was a pleasure to show them around !

I enjoy workign with people who love what they do !

Oh man its hot.. I think it got up to 97 today.. Heres the car temp to show it .. the car was sitting in the sun to be fair. 

we’re all wearing as little as possible to work. here’s me and my freind Ed looking like twins. 

I gave a tour today to My good freind Tati, her sone Dmitir and hes GF Leah.. great to show them around in the nice AC> 

came home, floated in the pool and foudn ways to think cool. One good way was to eat one of our first tomoatoe sandwiches from the garden. THen eat berries for desert  Noting says summer liek that !

So the big news this week on the house is that the back chimneys have started tofail and come appart. Earlier in the week we had our freinds from the slate company come by for their annual repair of our very old.. but wonderfuly solide slate roof. They took the tqwo chimneys down and capped the hole

now the problem is how do we vent our boiler that used to use one of those chineys. There were no good options here.. we wanted to avoid an ugly metalbestos chimney on the outside of the house.. so we opted for the next less terrible thing.. a vent through the side of the house. Not much fun to put in. I had to remove abotu a foot of old wall, and insullation intil we could get close enough to the outside wall to install the fireproof fent.. A dirty job before work 

Diane s gardens are in full magnificance these daya.. its such a joy to have it like this.. we’re always gettign nice comments and waves from the folks who drive or cycle by.  Its so much work. for diane.. but worth it , everyoen knows this house as the house with the gardons.. not the house with the creepy bell tower.. 

yoga tonight was fun.. after yoga we had a small party to mark Marthas 64th birthday and her long awaited retirement.. 

All these retired folks around me now.. how do they find the time to be retired ?!?!
