Wednesday night – Aunt Sis’s funeral

Today was my Aunt Sis’s interment. With Covid still raging… The family didn’t feel it was safe to get everyone together physically… So today there was a short service by zoom at the cemetery where Sis is cremated remains were buried. It’s right next to her mom and dad… at a cemetery in Dayton Ohio.I’ve been there. We’re all going to get together to celebrate Sis’s life in spring when things are safer

The online format actually worked pretty well… They were about 80 people mostly family and friends gathered. The rabbi , my Uncle Phil and my aunts kids Jim and Judy and their wives were there… I think my cousin Judy had to stay home because she tested positive for Covid.  It was a short traditional service the rabbi said the traditional prayers of death and did something I’ve never seen… She had people tear ribbons of cloth… As part of the ritual where observant Jews tear their clothing when a loved one dies and wear it for a year.… I thought this was kind of cool adaptationIt was a short traditional service the rabbi said the traditional prayers of death and did something I’ve never seen… She had people tear ribbons of cloth… As part of the ritual where observant Jews tear their clothing when a loved one dies and wear it for a year.… I thought this was a f cool adaptation.

After the prayers each other family members were able to throw some flowers and a small amount of dirt into the grave… The whole thing lasted only 20 minutes. I was at work at Beto… Which was a strange place to be crying… But it worked for me

This was really a fun and loving person… we will  really miss her. I’m looking forward to getting together with family in the spring to swap stories about her.

זכרונה לברכה  .. may her name be a blessing

Tuesday night – catching up

I’d like to have a redo on yesterdays blog. I realized that this was the 4th anniversary of my wonderful mother in law Marcia’s passing. I saw it on one of our calendars.. I can’t believe its been 4 years. Her death came as such a surprise to all of us. We miss her very much

Monday night (delayed) – back to work

Even though I’m supposedly retired… I do get stressed when I’m away from work for too long… I could not wait to get back to Beto… I have some demos going there and I really need to get some of them out on the floor for people to look at. It was great being back and seeing the team… One of the best things as I now have a place to work on the projects and a place to sit… Doesn’t sound like much but I have an actually had a desk in the last five years of working so it’s kind of special

The sunset was really wonderful as I drove home to meet Mason to start in on putting the bamboo flooring on my shop desks… I had to stop to snap these pictures

Mason and I got started putting down the bamboo Fluorine on the services… Diane made a wonderful enchilada dinner for all of us to which was super nice

Sunday night (delayed) – settling back in

Sunday was a very quiet day getting used to the new year and getting used to being home again. We managed to get out for a brisk walk up to the Duxbury window… It’s about a 3 mile up and back with some steep climbs in the sense… My type of hike!

Mason and Sasha came over for dinner and we use that as an opportunity to get to know Sasha better and also to let Mason take a look at the shop project… He’s going to help me with some of the work surfaces… We use the rest of the day to put together some of the new shelving… I’m so excited about this project
