Tomorrow is the big HackMIT event.. i’ve been working  with a   great team of people to get ready for this.. and we’re as ready as we’re gonna be

today was a blur of meetings and sifting boxes of  swag around.. I did get to take a short break to go visit a friend of my friend David’s giant drone start up.. it was amazing .. I couldn’t take pictures..but I did get a chance to look at some of the battle bots they’ve made.. in fact some of their competitions are supposedly on tonight on discovery

later on I wet to a party at my freinds david an d pams.. they’re house parent in the edgerton dorm.. .

this guy was waiting near the veggi dip for me

he look.. he’s feeling better @

my friends Jim and Oliver walked me back to the site of my old  dorm.. this spot would have been my bedroom.. it’s weird not having it here.

ok. hackmit starts early tomorrow.. so I gotta sleep

Uh-oh.. I got to cambridge and made the mistake of starting to code.. I looked up and it was 1:30 AM.. eeek

Quick update on the Sport port protector for Storm > Jake went in late last night and redesigned the thing and printed it in both PLA and in Carbon impregnated PLA..Dine and I picked it up today when Jake was away.. didn’t even get to thank him for his late night heroics.. but he did such an awesome job

we dropped the two models by Storms house. Her’s storms dad Matt showing how the Sport works.. It protects Storms chemo port from getting hit. Storm was going to where it in a game tonight.. Cant wait to hear how it works. Im sure we’re gonna take a few more revisions.. but this is gonna work real well

thanks so much Jake !!

Tuesday night – Sport model

Crazy day, crazy week.. so busy with work. I did get soem time after work today to hang out with my freind Jake at Generator, He’s a

genius when it comes to 3d modeling and  3d printing. Jake’s  helping me with the next revision for the S-port device we’re developing to protect our young friend Storm’s chemotherapy port while  he plays sports.

Lynn and I made the first version using a thermoplastic I hand molded. . it’s light.. but needed to be pretty thick to get the strength we need..  It worked for Storm, but it wasn’t comfortable.  Storms dad Matt build a model of a new design by hand using heat setting Skulpy clay.. it’s not strong enough to wear.. btut it gave me an idea of the size and shape they wayted.. ..   It looks liek this,.

Tuesday night - Sport model

kast night Jake and I sat down and started drawing it in Fusion.. Jake woke up in the middle of the night and redid it.. so it was ready to print today,. here’s a quick look at the 3d model he made..  Its abot 10cm by 7 cm.

we’re priniting it now in plane old PLA to check it out for size and fit.. then we’ll print it in our new carbon impregnated PLA.. it’s be really strong and light !

thanks for your great help Jake !!!
