Monday night – Yali

Another brutally hot day.   96 degrees at one point.. and humid !

the temp reahced 90 degrees inside the house !

got a midday break when I went to a lunch that Miro Weinberg, the  mayor of Burlington had hosted

of entrepreneurs from Africa from a program is called YALI.. there were 25 really cool, creatives who were spending 6 weeks in the us based at Dartmouth. we had a great Ethiopian lunch in the delightfully air-conditioned Contois auditorium. We had an hour or so to get to know one another. what an impressive bunch.. there were filmmakers, weavers, digital marketing folks.. I really loved getting to know them

lunch was amazing,.. we ate everything uing delicious tear off ethiopian Injera bread

this guy had a shoe brand he was developing. he designed these

got home and worked the rest of the day in my tiny office space huddled over the air conditioner..

aroudn 6 I took the dogs out to the river.. it felt like a steamy equatorial jungle out there !

we all had to go in the river.

our garage sale was still goign on.. freind Kira tried on the bald scientist wig.. what do you thinK ? Can you tell who’s who ?

Saturday night – attics of my mind

So nice to be home. Even when it’s sweltering like this. It reached about 90°F today. But it really didn’t bother me. Diane and I spent the whole day working in the attic. We have a dumpster here because we really would like to clean out 3 1/2 decades of junk. Not because were moving or anything… We just would like to have more space. We spent the day going through zillion boxes of all receipts and check books and calendars… In a month that were some amazing finds. So many pictures and letters… Remember when people wrote letters?. Some really lovely memories… And some sad ones.

Here’s a good one… Dianne found her Halloween costume from 1985… And it still fits. She went as a table and I went as a chair

At 7 o’clock I got a call from my friend Shannon… There’s been a mixup on schedules and they were expecting me to do a science show today. We discussed it over a month ago but I hadn’t heard back so I assumed it was off.… It wasn’t. I was able to quickly get my stuff together and get over there to do an electricity show for the governors Institute. It was so much fun.

Now back at home going to sleep in air-conditioning. Thank goodness for air conditioning
